The new E200 (W211 model) is superb value for money. Starting at £26,000 it is in a far higher class than most cars for the same money. I was sceptical about purchasing one because the performance figures suggest it is a bit of a slouch but in reality, coupled with the manual 6 speed gearbox, performance is lively and more than you might expect. Handling is also superb, particularly with the optional £300 sports suspension which often makes you think you are driving a smaller sporty car. Motorway cruising is a dream making those long journeys effortless. A cavernous boot with optional split fold rear seats means that those with previous experience of Hatchbacks won’t miss them. Overall this is one classy car, when stopped at lights, the loudest noise is the heater and you struggle to hear that!
