    I bought my 1997 E300TD in 2005, with about 100k mikes seduced by the image of quality, reliability and longevity. All went reasonably well for the 1st 12 months as I enjoyed the comfort, performance and relative economy from the big car on long motorway journeys. However it was all about to change...the alloy wheels were restored at 115k as they had corroded. Then the front spring hangers rotted and had to be welded at 128k, by 135k the front crossmember had rotted away and needed welding; both of these serious issues M-B repaired under warranty.     I own a 99 E300 Td elegance with leather,From new the suspensions last 100k,mileage now at 175k got rust repaired recently,had heater box replaced,and i cover 70k a year and on average if you get good mecanic with experience on mercedes and buy parts spurious,works out just as cheap to maintain as any other car,i have owned toyota cars for years which were brill,but there is nothing like mercedes for comfort and power in diesel.wouldnt drive anything else again.love my car and get loads of compliments on how well it looks,best resale colours silver or black.

    I bought my 1998 E300 TD for 12 grand. Having driven about 20K miles in it I find no fault with it. Starts every time, is prestigous looking and offers me the best motoring I have ever experienced. Benz servicing is a little pricey but have it done regularly for total piece of mind. I reccomend Benz every time. In sport mode the Turbo kicks in almost instantly and pulls through all the five speed auto gears to my top speed of 85. It's rock steady. The car will do 130mph and I am sure the same will apply. My dash is in canadian maple and looks and feel superb. For the size and luxury of the car ... more

    I currently own a Mercedes Benz E300 Turbodiesel elegance. It is a great car on the road. The suspension on the car is excellent, and is smooth over any road surface. The automatic gearbox has a pristine smooth gear change, with five gears. Is an extremely powerful car for a diesel, and when purchased was the fastest diesel road car in the world. The interior is spacious and relaxed, especially in the rear of the car, where three adults can easily fit in. Overall i have always found this car to be a great allrounder, and a must buy. ... more
