Advantages: Works as advertised. Disadvantages: Confusing labelling. Sickly sweet taste.
old rummage around our bottomless medicine cabinet and found a handsome half-full little bottle promising to help me ?maintain regularity?. It seemed just the thing to ease my discomfort, and after confirming that the ?best before? date was within reasonable proximity, I decided to give Califig a go.
BASIC DETAILS
As the name suggests, Califig is a syrup made of real fig extract. The ?Cali? part is a remnant from the original US product (marketed by Merck Pharma), where it is made using California figs. The labelling on the UK version, sold here by the well known vitamin giant ?Seven Seas?, doesn?t make the distinction. The product is available over the counter at most chemists and large supermarkets in two sizes ? 55ml and 110ml ? and is marketed as a ?food supplement? rather than as a ?medicine?. Advantages: Lightweight and fast, should be hard wearing... Disadvantages: Expensive, but worth it !
& Lemon yellow. The tyre sidewall for all these colours is black, unlike the old 3000's where multi-coloured sidewalls were available :(
(Apparently, the gold, silver and bronze options ("Xserallic" colours, developed by Merck) represent the medals that were won on Continental tyres at the world championships and Olympic Games !)

Watch this space...
Continental claim that these tyres weigh 205g each (I've not checked this on the kitchen scales yet), but they're certainly pretty light. Out of the box, the colour's very bright (my bike ...
Advantages: They do lower Cholesterol Disadvantages: Muscle weakness
I wonder how many people are prescribed statins in this country for lowering Cholesterol.
I was first prescribed them after having had a heart attack and although it is a fact that they do lower cholesterol, I am still sceptical as to their benefits over their disadvantages.
Zocor (simvastatin) is made by Merck & Co., Inc. They come in 5 mg 10mg, 20mg and 40mg.
I was on 20mg but after a couple of days taking them I felt severe pains in my muscles. Legs, arms and even my breasts felt heavy and painful.
I consulted my GP, who advised me to lower the dose. She lowered them to 10mg but the results were just the same.
I did some research on the net regarding Zocor (simvastatin) and other statins and found conflicting views from patients taking these drugs.
The Americans are hooked on them as being the wonder drug ...
