I spent hour after hour reading reviews and magazines, determined to get a good pc, and finally settled on Mesh.
I saw a magazine review for: -

MESH 3 YRS UK ONLY WARRANTY (1YR ON SITE+2YR RTB)
£1,155.03
I didn’t understand a lot about computers, ... Read review
Advantages: not a bad machine Disadvantages: Mesh support
...40GB ATA-100 EIDE HDD
MESH 3 YRS UK ONLY WARRANTY (1YR ON SITE+2YR RTB)
£1,155.03
I didn’t understand a lot about computers, but all the reviews I read seemed good, so I thought I would give it a go, and I phoned them,
I told the guy on the phone I wanted to buy a new computer, and waited for the usual sales pitch and advice, but all I got was….. ‘yes?’
I told him which one I was thinking about, ... ...soft, so I phoned Mesh again.
After 45 minutes of;
“All our operators are busy. Your call is important to us, please hold”
When they answered, I was very abruptly told, “This is a software issue, call our software help line. (Calls are charged at 50p per minute”)
I told him, ”That it may be a soft ware issue, but it was one they created”
I was told “if you don’t like it, phone customer services, and complain.” ... more
About four years ago my brother decided to drag me screaming into the twenty-first century, by giving me his old but workable 2GB pc. Although at first my thoughts were “ don’t leave that at my house I have enough to dust and I’ll never use it.”
One day (out of boredom) I decided to plug it in and give it a go. After a short while I was totally hooked; surfing the Internet; writing letters and all sorts of things. About six months or so later, I decided I needed nice shiny new pc, I thought I would shop around and find a better machine, and a good deal.
I spent hour after hour reading reviews and magazines, determined to get a good pc, and finally settled on Mesh.
I saw a magazine review for: - MATRIX 1200 VFM 40GB ATA-100 EIDE HDD MESH 3 YRS UK ONLY WARRANTY (1YR ON SITE+2YR RTB) £1,155.03
I didn’t understand a lot about computers, but all the reviews I read seemed good, so I thought I would give it a go, and I phoned them, I told the guy on the phone I wanted to buy a new computer, and waited for the usual sales pitch and advice, but all I got was….. ‘yes?’
I told him which one I was thinking about, and he replied …. ‘OK’
I asked him if it was any good, and explained that I knew very little about computers, his reply was….. ‘yes!’
I thought I’m not going to get any help from him, but I had just about made my mind up anyway, so I went ahead a bought the Mesh.
I was given a delivery date which I waited for, only to get a phone call saying that my pc would still be delivered on the day, but the printer & scanner wouldn’t be delivered until the next day. And it was. I was very happy with my purchase for a while, then things started to go wrong, it kept wanting to dial up the internet, even though I didn’t. So I rang the technical support, which took me half an hour of listening to; “ All our operators are busy, but your call is important to us, please hold.” Then I did get through and explained my problem. I was told they would send me labels, so I could return the pc for them to inspect. I told them; “ I am still within my on-site warranty.” Only to be told, “ It sounds like a motherboard problem, and the on site cover warranty doesn’t cover that.”
I said, “Surely, it sounds more like the modem doesn’t it?”
“No madam, it’s definitely the motherboard.”
So I sent it back.
When it was returned a week later, the work sheet that came with it, read: - “Replaced modem and updated bio’s” That didn’t sound like the motherboard to me! However, the pc was running fine, so I just got on with it.
A while later, it started playing up again. Again, I phoned Mesh! Again it was the motherboard! Again it went back to them, despite still being within its onsite warranty. This time, I could not understand the jargon on the worksheet. But, it did not say motherboard.
A short while later, it played up again. I kept on getting, disk failure on start up. Only this time, it was over one year old. When I contacted Mesh, they told me the hard drive was on its way out and if take the hard drive out and return it to them, they would inspect it, and send out a replacement. Well it sounds ok, except the only thing was, (all I have ever put in, or taken out of my computer, is cd disks and floppy disks, I was told not to worry, “ they would do it for me, as It was just over the year old, and its still covered by warranty. But, only return to base. They said they would send out return labels.
So back it went again!
When my pc came back, it was fixed, but the sound was odd. It kept going loud and soft, so I phoned Mesh again. After 45 minutes of; “All our operators are busy. Your call is important to us, please hold” When they answered, I was very abruptly told, “This is a software issue, call our software help line. (Calls are charged at 50p per minute”) I told him, ”That it may be a soft ware issue, but it was one they created” I was told “if you don’t like it, phone customer services, and complain.” This I did. I was told to try reinstalling the sound soft ware, and if that did not work, reinstall windows.
I tried the sound software bit, but it made no difference. So I began to reinstall windows. I got half way through, when I got an error message, saying,”read error” At this point I could not go forward or backwards, so I tried phoning Mesh again.
After holding for twenty minutes, listening to “ how important my call was “ I gave up and called their 50p per min help line.
A young man answered, and I told him,I felt I should not have to pay to sort the mess out, made by them……. But he wasn’t interested…. So, I told him the problem.
He messed me around for twenty minutes, making me repeat, all the things I had already done to my pc…… Then put me on hold, while he went to ask someone else what to, while I paid £1 to listen to awful music. When he returned, he said he now knew what to do. I did what he said, but it still did not work….. After another £1.50’s worth of nasty music, he returned and gave me simple instructions to check in set-up, which drive the pc was reading from. I did this, apparently it had been set to read the cd drive first, and not the A drive, which it needed, to read the recovery disks, The problem was then solved in seconds.
I have reinstalled windows a few times before, but had never had to tell the pc which drive to read. And neither has any one I know. It makes me wonder what the person who fixed my pc at Mesh, was up to. Because at the end of the day, I have been forced to pay Mesh over £30 for a warranty repair.
All in all I am very disappointed, if not a little suspicious of Mesh warranty and would like to warn any one thinking of buying one of their pc’s. Although I must say their pc is pretty good, but their tech help is appalling. I have been left feeling a little ripped off. The next time I buy a pc I think I might try a local shop. At least, I could pop in and sort it out face to face.
I went on line to the computer association web site to ask for advice, I typed in my complaint…. Clicked submit…. A nice little banner popped up saying “ You will hear from us shortly”….. That was 2 months ago…… I’m still waiting
