Metacam

Metacam can shorten your dogs life. This is a sad fact. All too often people do not have the full facts when their pets are prescribed metacam. My dog has been on it and off it over a few years. Then we fell into giving it too her everyday. Within a year she has developed Kidney Failure. She has not been monitered properly by the vet (bloods) and we were not advised that the dose should be lowered in older dogs. This has lead to damage to her kidneys. The vets tend to prescribe this on an ongoing basis when it is not always needed - You know your pet - whilst it has its uses be very very careful - Kidney Failure is not reversable!.
