Metal Slug Anthology (PSP)

Advantages: Reminiscent of 2D games, Midgame Progress Save!
Disadvantages: Load times affect pacing, Motion Controls not that great

...For you arcade game lovers, you remember playing Metal Slug? Well, Metal Slug, Anthology is the release to commemorate a 10th anniversary of the Original Metal Slug, simply by rolling all the 7 different Metal Slug arcades into one, and there we have Metal Slug Anthology. For the MS vets though, there is still that short-but-just about noticeable loading time in the game, and disappointingly, the Wii remote isn't the ideal thing for playing Metal Slug either. Despite all that, Metal Slug is, after all these years, will definitely bring you back to the times of playing it in the arcades, or it will simply be a good experience for all, whether old or new to the game. Advantages: Entertaining and fun, energetic gameplay, old-skool stylings, two-player
Disadvantages: Extremely short, inferior to Metal Slug X, little replay value, less innovation than usual

...Slug so good in the first place are alive and well in here, but the flip side of this is that MS5 offers nothing that hasn't been seen before - and dare I say it, done better. The two-player mode proves a fine distraction for a time but beyond this, there is little to entice gamers in the long-term. It's cheap 'n' cheerful and will undoubtedly appeal to retro fans who get misty-eyed at the mention of Gunstar Heroes, but with Metal Slug Anthology on the horizon, it may be wiser to hold on to your money and wait for something with a little more substance.... Advantages: Strategic gameplay, sharp graphics, great story, the MGS style

...Metal Gear Acid! for PSP is an entertaining new twist on the card game. Metal Gear Acid is not a portable Metal Gear stealth game, but a strategy turn based sneak/shooter game. This game is not only different from the previous Metal Gear series, it is not set in this same timeline and all the characters are new. Don't worry, there are plenty of moments in which the story is explained in brilliant animated cut-scenes. The story grows quickly and by the time you are at stage 7 or so, it seems emense, a trade mark of the Metal Gear games. It's a really good story. The Metal Gear Acid! Story: Mercs have siezed a research facility on an African Island. They are waffling about how they want Pythagoras, and won't stop until they get it.
