Just be warned this cream does stain so keep it away from all clothes and materials.
Anyway i think i covered pretty much all of it just to say "what Canaestan is to thrush, Metaniom is to nappy rash", so i think if we have babies we should keep some of this in the medicine cabinet.

Those of you that may of read my previous ops will know that i have 2 sons my eldest is nearly 9 and my youngest is 14 months. I soon realised when my second son was born that they are like chalk and cheese in most ways. Mind you they do always say you never get 2 the same and they are right. when my eldest son went through his teething stage he breezed through it there was the occasional red cheek or little whinge but apart from that they all just appeared as if by magic. Then we come to My youngest Jay well that is a different kettle of fish altogether. He gets the usual red cheeks and dribbles but what he really suffers from while teething is diarrhoea. When he passes wind he shall we say follows through. I change his nappy straight away yet he still gets sore. I tried all the usual nappy creams such as:
None of these worked for him. Then one night he woke up late and was screaming i brought him downstairs and he had diarrhoea. We cleaned him up with cotton wool and water as his wipes would of stung his bum. His willy and testicles were red raw and his bum was weeping where it was so sore. I had had enough this time so i took him to the Drs the next day as it was not fair he was in so much pain. I went to the Drs and was told "Well he is only teething and it is normal to have nappy rash" I told him i had to have a special cream as he was in so much pain. The Dr gave me Timovate on prescription. I thought this would definatly do the job. I applied it straight away and thought it would work but to my surprise it did not even touch it. I went on the internet and came accross a cream called Metanium i had never heard of this but thought anything was worth a try.

~~~The technical stuff~~~
Metanium is made by a company called Randsom Consumer Healthcare which is a UK based company.
Also contains: Dimethicone 350 light liquid parafin tincture of benzoin white soft parafin
Now if i am honest none of this means much to me exept that it works and it does what it says.
~~Where can i buy it?~~~
I have always bought mine from Boots but have just noticed that Tescos also sell it. I pay £3.23 for a 30g tube which lasts quite a while. prices may vary but trust me pay the money.
~~~~Overall opinion~~~~
Well i cannot rate this cream high enough. It is the only cream that stops my little boy from being in pain with his nappy rash when he is teething. It is a mustard colour and feels quite grainy so is quite different from all the other creams. My boyfriend suffers from bad grass burns (no we not exciting just gets them from football no where else) and he uses Metanium on them and they dry up and clear very quickly so there is another use for it. Just be warned this cream does stain so keep it away from all clothes and materials. Anyway i think i covered pretty much all of it just to say "what Canaestan is to thrush, Metaniom is to nappy rash", so i think if we have babies we should keep some of this in the medicine cabinet. Advantages: It works well, a little goes a long way and it soothes too. Disadvantages: It is mustard coloured and can stain clothing.
...anything to make it better. Metanium ointment was recommended to me by our doctor and it has been a great find which I shall share with you.
So What Exactly Is Nappy Rash?
*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*
Nappy rash can be caused (or made worse) by so many things, nappies being left on too long, nappy on too tight, weaning, food allergy, dehydration, teething or a cough or cold. The most common form of nappy rash is “ammoniacal” dermatitis, which ... ...What Is Metanium?
*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*
Metanium can be used as a barrier cream but also as a treatment for nappy rash. It comes in just one size tube, 30g. Now this made sound like a little, especially when you consider that barrier creams normally start at about 125g but you only need to use a very small amount. A little goes such a long way with it. It comes in a box, about the size of a babies tube of toothpaste, 4 inches. The packaging is mainly ...

Advantages: it works Disadvantages: it's very thick
I have always used (and still do use) Sudocrem as nappy cream for all my kids, And i have never had any cause to complain about it.
Recently my baby got a VERY! sore bot, not the usual nappy rash that my tried and trusted sudocrem would clear up. This was awful and my poor baby was in alot of pain every time he needed to have his nappy changed. I don't know what caused him to get in such a mess, I suppose these things just happen, but after 4 days ... ...because I couldn't do anything, I decided to go searching for a cure.
I had telephoned my doctors surgery for an appointment, I was that worried, but there was a 4 day wait...no good to a very upset child!
luckily i found this in the first shop I went into, which was Superdrug.
I paid £3.25 for a 30ml tube. It might sound quite expensive for what is essentially not alot of product, but i'd have paid a ransom to find the cure...and with hind site ...

Simply put, this stuff is fantastic.
I was given the arse end (pardon the pun) of a tube of this stuff by a good friend who had two children of her own. Since the youngest is now five she didn't need it anymore and passed it on to me saying that it was the best thing since sliced bread.
My little boy has been lucky, he seems to take after his mum (me the dragon) in having generally leathery skin, and so I hadn't needed to use anything on him. That ... ...gives you nappy rash.
I'd forgotten I had this stuff, so first off I tried all the free samples I'd received in the Bounty packs, including Sudocrem, and Bepanthen. I'd also been given some of Boots own cream and I slapped that on as well (not all at the same time you understand!) None of them worked, and in fact in a couple of cases the rash just got worse, not better.
Then I noticed this chewed up tube sitting at the back of the shelf and dug ...

...How often?
I use Metanium on every nappy change while Kayla is teething. Luckily, I always get a warning sign because she tends to get diorreah and I then know to start applying the cream to keep the rash at bay.
If you start using the cream before the rash gets bad, it will stop it in its tracks. If, however, the rash is open and bleeding the cream will dry the blisters up straight away and therefore stop the bleeding. I find that it only takes ...

...I thought I would try metanium instead of my usual sudocreme. I had previously used it on elderly bed riiden/incontinent people with great effect.
A trip to my local pharmacist led to dissapointment. He told me that it was not to be used on babies! Errrrm excuse me but why does the tube have a picture of a baby on it then?? and why does it tell you that it for the treatment and prevention of nappy rash?? There was no answer to these questions just ... ...it to me now.
Metanium itself contains Titanium dioxide 20% w/w. Titanium peroxide 5% w/w. Titanium salicylate 3% w/w and is made by Roche, a tube containgin 30g will cost you £2.99. It is an ointment rather than a cream, and is a beige colour with a distinctive smell, a little like coal tar I always think.
A light covering (less than the amount of toothpaste you use) of this magical cream is all thats required for protection of those precious ...

Advantages: thick gives excellent coverage and protection Disadvantages: spurts out the tube so you tend to get more than you need
I was recommended Metanium by a friend of mine after we had been talking about my little boy having really bad nappy rash. I had tried all the other high street products and felt that they had little affect including an antiseptic talc that I had been given by my health visitor. I managed to get hold of Metanium at my local supermarket and used it on my little boy as soon as I got home. Its really really thick so you do not need too much making the product value for money as it lasts ages. Because it is think though it creates a good barrier between your childs skin and the nappy preventing it from getting any worse. It works really quickly and although others have said it seems to get everywhere and can be quite messy it comes off with baby wipes quite easily so not really a major issue.
My little boys nappy rash was gone with 48 ...
Advantages: Great Barrier Disadvantages: Smell, Colour, waterproof (takes ages to wash it off)
Metanium Nappy Rash Cream.....Hmmmm What Can I Say...?
Well this cream is a horrible yellow colour and is very thick but easy to apply to a sore bottom and does spread rather easy.
The cream you can buy for about £3.50 - £4 ish and it comes in a 30g tube...does last a long time though....
I got this cream on prescription as my daughters nappy rash ended up infected....when i got the cream and got home to but it on...i was surprised to what it looked and smelt like....i have never come across something like this before...i have already mentioned the look of it but the smell was not nice and stained her bottom yellow....
The cream is deffinatly waterproof...which makes it hard to wash of babys bottom and your hands.
I would only use this again because the cream sticks to bottom and does help the nasty rash, this is the only reason ...
Advantages: Treats and soothes effectively Disadvantages: Stains
During the summer months my baby son developed a terrible nappy rash bought on by the heat. He had not previously suffered from nappy rash and so I was quite shocked to see how badly he had been effected by it in such a short period of time. His skin had quickly blistered and began bleeding. With the excessive heat, and a heat rash too, this made him rather upset.
I needed something that was guaranteed to clear it up promptly. I subsequently asked for advice from friends and was advised that I should try either Bepantham or Metanium, with Metanium being the stronger and more effective of the two.
I took a trip to my local supermarket and looked at both products. I noticed that the Bepantham seems to be aimed at preventing nappy rash where as the Metanium quite clearly stated that is was for the treatment of nappy rash and also had ...
