Wacom Bamboo Fun - Not so much fun for a beginner
Advantages: Much more comfy than a mouse and with right software/OS has good range of functions Disadvantages: Appears to be very software and OS specific, erratic operation of some useful functions
...are a few manufacturers but Wacom appear to be highly regarded when it comes to these pen and tablet gizmos, especially amongst those who use them professionally (designers, photographers, layout, etc). My intended purchase was motivated with a few purposes: -
#one - I wish to play around with a few photos to create different effects
#two - I wish to use my media software (Micrografx Picture Publisher) to do some 'painting' and 'drawing' where ... ...My research pointed to the Wacom Bamboo Fun Small Black. I paid £52 inc delivery from warehouseexpress.com and it was promptly delivered.
In the classy black box was the tablet and pen, the pen holder, the power cable, three CD discs and 13 page 'Quick Start Guide' booklet. This booklet is about the dimensions of a CD and half of the pages have one or two lines (such as "Close all applications and disable antivirus.") in English with the same instruction ...

Are you ILLUSTRATIVE?
Advantages: The best in its field Disadvantages: Costs around £800
...one of the high market Wacom models. The Cintiq 12WX came to our college wrapped in technological warmth and love, and with every part we opened, I soon found that this model was nothing like the others. The model consists of a small, thin A4 size piece of equipment with a smooth anti scratch screen and Digital Pen. I had heard that it was just like using a digital form of paper to store work, but I hadn't expected a technological wonder piece. After ... ...first go as I'm a bit of a fanatic about the Wacom range. The pen slid effortlessly over the screen and it created a perfect line that not even a pencil could reproduce. Quite simply a masterpiece. If you don't look at the pricetag, you won't feel guilty buying it! ...

The RX1000 wired mouse is a solid value product
Advantages: Responsive and rather stylish for the price! Disadvantages: The "click" pad not quite wide enough.
Have just upgraded from a ball mouse so am finding this laser mouse very responsive by comparison. It works perfectly on a Belkin "WaveRest" Gel pad. The mouse is slightly narrower than my old standard issue one, but I have quickly got used to it. The RX1000 is of a predominately plastic feel but has a nice weight about it to make it feel solid enough without being overly-heavy. With its silver-grey shiny streaks offset against the matt-black it ... ...type which literally is just plugged into a USB port and will work. One nice feature is the little silver button on top which acts as a "back" button on your browser to view previous page which I have found useful. My only slight gripe is that the "click" part of the mouse does not extend right across (ie it is only the black part of the mouse). Accordingly, I have found myself trying to click and my finger has drifted on to the silver edge. But ...
