Advantages: Video and sound quality, price, features, Dolby decoder Disadvantages: Odd handset layout.
...I recently purchase the MICO DVD-A980 DVD player from Unbeatable.co.uk. Despite a slightly late arrival, I opened the box with baited breath. After plugging the player into the back of my television, I inserted Ghostbusters and waited. The machine takes about 5 seconds to load the introductory screen. The first thing I noticed was the picture quality. In a word, superb! Not a single fault or digital artifact could be noticed until the digital zoom function was raised to 4x magnification. The sound too is magnificent, and as a bonus the machine has an internal Dolby Digital decoder. The sound can be put through an onboard graphic equaliser to sound even better. Advantages: Plays multi-region DVD and MP3 CDs, cheap. Disadvantages: Badly designed remote.
...you lose your remote. On the subject of the remote, it's not very well designed, with some buttons in rather bizarre places, but if, like me, you've got a living room full of electronics, you'll probably have a nice multi-function remote too!

Advantages: plays all formats including MP3 & CDR and plays RCE discs Disadvantages: gold in colour
...About time I wrote this opinion again now that I really know what I am talking about.
Right, if you are buying a DVD player you will obviously need it to be multi-region. American DVD's are much cheaper than UK ones. You will also need your DVD player to play VCD's, CDR's, CDRW's and MP3 discs.
The Mico A980 plays all of these. I have recommended this player to several friends who have bought one and been very pleased with it.
This player also has the added bonus of having disabled macrovision and the ability to play RCE discs.
All this for the bargain price of £180. There aren't a great deal of places that sell this player, I know unbeatable do.
So is there anything wrong with this player? Well, yes, it's gold. Awful colour, doesn't match anything else we have. Also the remote control can be a little confusing to begin...
