...I bought this drive as a replacement for my Creative DVD which broke down. This time I decided to go for cheapest solution and it was Creative 48x. It reads all types of CD media, including VideoCD,CD-R, CD-RW, PhotoCD, etc. Although I had to find special driver for CD-RW ones. In general I had no problems. After a while when I had to reinstall my Win98 the drive decided not to work at all. I had to spend hours on internet to find a special patch. Creative could not solve my problem and I was on my own. The drive itself did not have any drivers either. The drive is stable for everyday use, but sometimes it can make you scream! Good buy as a cheap solution, look for something else otherwise....

...This is an amazing DVD+RW/CD-RWdrive at an amzing price. I bought this a few weeks ago off ebay for just £64.99, and for a DVD writer than is an amazing price. You can purchase this from cnet.com or compuvest.com for $93,
The DW 7801 TE unites 6 functions in one device, it burns DVD+RW, DVD+r, CD-R AND CD-RW, and reads DVD-ROM and CD-ROM media.
With this drive you can conveniently save your video, photo, and music files, with up to 4.7Gb on onw DVD+RW or DVD+R (replaces up to 7 CD-R). The huge capacity ood a DVD enables you to save your video and audio data in perfect original digital quality, and the accompanying software programs allow you not only to burn your data perfectly, you can also convert your video data to MPEG format, edit them, and play DVD's, DVD-R and DVD+RW on your computer with first class quality.

...LiteOn is one of those companies that you don't hear much about. You don't see TV commercials or printed advertisement about their products, but if you own a Dell you probably had one and never knew about. They are pretty well known in the OEM market for their low price and quality.
Let me start with the basics. This is a CD-RWdrive. It is used to burn both CD-R media and CD-RW. The difference between CD-R and CD-RW is the later one is rewritable. In my opinion CD-RW are not too useful. They cost more than normal CD-Rs and in reality you can only burn again if you still have space available in the media, you cannot burn "over" what you already have in the drive. This drive writes CD-Rs
at 52X, it rewrites CD-RWs at 32X and it reads CDs at 52X.
Installation of the drive itself was very easy. Just connected the cables and turned my PC...
