Apart from venting my frustration I thought it might help others if they understood what buying from Microdirect can mean.
I bought the parts (900 pounds) to build a new system from Microdirect approx 15 months ago. All was fine until 2 months ago when the Antec psu failed (just out of its 12 month Microdirect "guarantee").
I contacted Microdirect who told me to return it to them which I duly did. The person on the desk said it would be replaced in 3-4 weeks as it had a 3 year manufacturer`s warranty.
After 3 weeks and having heard nothing I tried to contact Customer Services to find out if they knew anything. Despite trying by phone over several days (I just listened to recorded messages and music on their 0870 number) and sending emails (to which I received no responses) I got to talk to no-one. Eventually I tried by other routes to get to the managing director and was told to send an email!! I did this and funnily enough this time I got an email response but now they said it would probably take 6-8 weeks but couldn't be specific. Having now actually made contact with someone I asked if they could tell me exactly where my PSU was. The answer (eventually) was that it had been sent to their supplier (whom I wasn`t allowed to contact) who may have sent it back to Antec in USA. But still they couldn't give me any dates, etc. In other words they were just spinning me the standard line.
Over the 5 weeks since then I have tried to get anyone to update me on progress. As before I can either not get through or emails are ignored.
So at the moment I have a system which is dead and a PSU which has been in a 'black hole' for over 8 weeks with no sign of when it might return.
You need to be aware that whilst Microdirect are VERY helpful when you are spending money with them, after that you are on your own - they couldn't care less.
PS I also tried to find out via Antec themselves but again got nowhere
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
If it was a convenient location, why did you waste time on the phone and sending emails, why not just go down there?

A useful relation of your experience, but this site is only partly about "venting your frustration" - it is important to write balanced reviews. So here it might be useful to write about what attracted you to Microdirect in the first place, what your intial expectations were etc. All the best, Mike.
Advantages: sounds like a bargain Disadvantages: not compatible and dont bother to reply to emails/ terms and conditions of return appear to be against trades desciption act
