Saving Ryan's privates

Advantages: Great action sequences
Disadvantages: Slow to start, but gethers pace nicely

is to Ryan and the methods he uses in situations shows that as a soldier, that killing the enemy is just part of the job. Edward Mulhare, better known as Devon Miles from the TV series Knight Rider, plays Captain Costanzo, a man of the cloth who is the only one who can speak fluent German, an advantage that is put to good use in a lighter moment when the Train gets inspected by the German Militia. In fact it is this scene and the Ryan persuading the Captain to do this that balances up the humour with the drama and works well as part of the film. With other supporting cast members including Brad Dexter, Sergio Fantoni, John Leyton and even James Brolin in an early role. As a Colonel, Ryan is a ruthless man in the story and although some of the characters overall are stereo typical caricatures of sort, it is the leadership that comes ...

Simon Crump. The Napoleon of Novel Writing

Advantages: A Stunningly good author
Disadvantages: None

My wife read it and said: "You should read this book (Neverland) by Simon Crump, it's got a very black sense of humour. You'll enjoy it." So I did. It was. I did. Neverland by Simon Crump. It's a very novel Novel. Is it a collection of interlinked short stories, as some people believe? Yes. Well, no. Not, quite. It's more a collection of interlinked ideas, instead. By the way, the dead hamster unicorn featured in the novel? I'm not entirely certainly it was. Dead, that is. Simon Crump takes several different ideas and places them in a very unique and out of place context. You can imagine Michael Jackson and Uri Geller together. (They are or rather, were friends in real life) You can imagine them being in a shopping mall. You can imagine them having an argument. But then place them and their argument (and the stunning consequences ...

Saving Private Ryan

Advantages: Moving story, great scenes
Disadvantages: Bloody

. The film then follows them on their search and then to the end where they decide to help protect a bridge from certain German invasion. Now I don't generally like war movies but this one is done so well that I did find it very watchable. It actually won 5 Academy awards including best director for Steven Spielberg. When he is directing a film you can pretty much guarantee that it is going to be a good one! It does ask a good question as well, why should 8 men risk their lives looking for one soldier? Is his life worth more since his brothers have dies or are they doing it for the greater good? In the end I believe this question is definitely answered. The great thing about this film was the amazing cast. Tom Hanks plays Captain John Miller, the soldier in charge who leads his troops on the search mission. He did play the part very well ...
