At the age of 20, I was admitted to hospital with stroke like symptoms caused by the combined pill. I did not know this at the time, but I should never have been given the combined pill as I very occasionally suffer from severe migraines. I am healthy, keep very fit & I don't smoke or drink.
I was advised that it was safe to take the POP but after my experience, I did not pluck up the courage to try it until I was 23. For the last year, I have tried many different brands of the POP. I have changed them every time because they made me bleed almost every day, which is a contraceptive in itself (but not something anyone would want to live with)! I then became anaemic due to the constant loss of blood.
Micronnor is the last brand I have available to me to try and I have been taking it for 3 months. I have stuck it out because it's my last hope of a POP but for me personally, it has been the worst. Physically, I am bleeding a lot and its erratic (although not as much as with other brands of POP), suffering many migraines, hot flushes, constant headaches, nausea, breast pain & lumps & acne which I have never had in my life. Mentally, I feel anxious, depressed, bad tempered and stressed characteristics which I did not show traits of even slightly 3 month ago. I honestly feel like I have gone through a personality transplant and my partner wants me off it. I am going to my GP next week to discuss my options :( but I am 100% stopping this pill.
I have read on here that some people find this pill fantastic and I guess we all have different bodies and react differently. From my own experience, I can only suggest that people do not take this pill as ifyou are unlucky enough to get side effects, they are really awful and will affect many areas of your life. I have to say that all other POP I tried gave me the bleeding side effects only! They did not affect my mood in any way.
