Microsoft Flight simulator X standard
Advantages: Good graphics, multiplayer, landmarks, user friendly, fun Disadvantages: Requires a good computer, flight dynamics

I chose FSX because it looked very aestheticaly pleasing and looked as if it would offer much more in graphics and gameplay than FS2004. Playability:
Once I started playing flight simulator, it was addictive except there was lots of jittering on the outside view mostly which was very annoying to play with. The graphics were quite good but to take full advantage of the graphics you will need a very good graphics card with a Windows Vista computer as FSX was designed mainly for it. After tweaking the settings, I was able to get good gameplay but the settings were not very high.
The multiplayer is very fun as well as you can fly for fun with other players or fly serioulsly and share aircraft. However, for the more serious flight simmers and pilots, I would highly recommend X-plane 8 instead but if you are new to flight sims or just want more fun then buy FSX.
FSX standard comes on 2 DVDs for installation and once it is installed you will not require the CD to run it. Full installation takes up 15GB so you have to have some hard drive space. The deluxe version of FSX has more detailed airports, glass cockpit planes and the ability to act as tower controller in multiplayer. FSX does need to be registered to run in full mode and this can be done online or through a touch-tone phone.
FSX programmes the joystick settings so you can just 'plug and play' and I would highly recommend a joystick or usb yoke. FSX supports 5.1 surround sound so you can hear the beautiful aircraft sounds in surround sound. FSX also supports quadcore processors (well thats what it says on the back).
FSX also incorporates 'flying lessons' so you can learn how to fly at home. You can then put your newly honed skills to the test in one of 40 structured missions to test yourself.
Aircraft that come with FSX standard are: Boeing 747 and 737, Douglas DC3, Learjet, Airbus A321, Beechcraft, Mooney Bravo, Cessna Grand Caravan, 172, Bell helicopter, Robinson helicopter, DeHavilland Beaver, Air Creation trike, Extra 300, sail plane, Bombardier CRJ.
Many other othercraft can be downloaded for free from the internet aswell as extra scenery and many other add-ons to enhance and customize your flights.
FSX includes scenery for the entire world which is more detailed in certain areas such as popular airports and areas like new york.
FSX is also able to re-create aircraft failures such as engine fires, stalled engines, landing gear failure, etc. These can make your flight even more challenging if you wish or if you decide you want to make an emergency approach into Paris or somewhere else which adds to the fun especially if you are on multiplayer.
For multiplayer and online play you will need a GameSpy account which can be obtained for free, quick and easily on FSX.
Remember that FSX is more of a game than a professional simulator so if you want a great time flying aircraft around then choose FSX and you probably won't be disapointed.
Advantages: Great graphics and realistic controls inside the planes Disadvantages: Not so hardcore
Have you ever wanted to learn how to fly, well this could be the simulation for you. You might look at it and think "hmm, well its no GTA is it." Well you are right it isn't but it isn't bad trust me. The graphics for the city's and airports are amazing not to mention the aeroplanes. However I suggest that you get a joystick because if you are using a keyboard its not as good. You can also download other planes to make it that more interesting and ... ...suppose you can always do loop-de-loops whilst the seatbelts light are off he he, still bored then customise your flight to make the wind top of the level and it to be snowing always fun, so don't knock this till you try it because it is a good game and you will enjoy it. I think the game is to an age of 13 and upwards and espacialy for young budding wannibe piolts, the levels are not that interesting you will find yourself just going on the free ...

Manufacturer's product description
In a nutshell:Microsoft's original civilian flight sim is still clocking up the air miles with the most significant sequel for years and a genuine attempt to make it more accessible for non-propellerheads.The lowdown:While almost all other flight simulators have fallen from grace on the PC, Microsoft have never given up on the genre with a game that's as ruthlessly realistic as it is completely free of any kind of violence. Every major, and minor, airport in the world is simulated and every major city has its share of recognisable landmarks, allowing you to fly anywhere in the world. There's a huge range of different aircraft to fly too: from jumbo jets and seaplanes to helicopters and everything in between. The only problem is that the game needs a seriously powerful PC to run at full whack, but even on lower detail levels this is still a stunning achievement. Most exciting moment:Despite the realism, the game isn't all dry simulation. There are a lot of fun missions to try out, including acting as a Hollywood stuntman, going on search and rescue flights, fighting fires and even flying over the infamous Area 51.Since you ask:The deluxe version of the game includes more cities, airports and aircraft as a well as an extra series of twenty-odd missions. There are also some additional multiplayer options, including the chance to share aircraft and have a go in the control tower. The bottom line:The most realistic commercial flight sim ever. Again.-HARRISON DENT From award winning game developer ACES comes Flight Simulator X. The latest installment will include the usual genre leading realism that continues to awe real pilots and will serve as the graphical benchmark for games on Windows Vista. Additionally, Flight Simulator X will deliver for the first time structured game play with more than 55 missions to choose from which will test the skills of players of all levels.Main Features:Fly 24 different airplanes, including Ultralites for when you don't want to deal ...
