-----| Reason for buying |-----
Back when i bought this mouse over 4 years ago optical mice were still pretty uncommon with house hold computers so i was eager to try it.
I also had a very old and broken mouse which also didn’t fit in my new computer.
The price of this mouse was around £25 when i bought it which was a bit over priced.
-----| Performance - Gaming |-----
I'm a pretty avid gamer and this mouse is OK, but not really suited for it. When moving the mouse around in a fast fire fight on games such as Counterstrike Source your little finger or thumb can get stuck between the table and the underneath as there is no lip for them to sit in, which you can now find on the Logitech G5 and G7. This can mean the difference between hitting the target and putting a whole clip in a wall...
This mouse has developed a very weird problem that the center scroll button will scroll on its own every now and then, thus changing your weapon or resulting in some other undesired action that can lead to losing.
This mouse, being optical, is pretty responsive and accurate, which is a good thing when gaming. But it doesnt compare to the newer laser mice with 1600dpi etc.
-----| Performance - Browsing the web |-----
The mouse has 5 programmable buttons, as standard when browsing you have the left and right click, back and forward buttons and the scroll button, which can be clicked down to scroll by moving the mouse and not the wheel (useful for long pages).
This makes it pretty useful at browsing the web, pleasant and fast experience.
However the two side buttons are positioned slightly to low for people with larger hands, and can result in unwanted button presses, which can be annoying if you type out a large comment or fill in a big survey then to have it wiped because of accidentally hitting one of the buttons.
-----| Design |-----
Back when this mouse was first introduced the creamy white colour was pretty standard for computers, but now it looks fairly dated against my black components. Microsoft has released a black version of this mouse though so if that’s a problem go check that one out.
Another problem with the white colour is that it shows its age, mine now has some stains on it, due to regular use, upwards of 4hrs a day most days.
The durability of this mouse is very good, as i have been using it, as mentioned above, daily for long periods of time. Frequent gaming also puts a stress on these mice but they take it well and it hasnt broke yet (apart from the scroll wheel problem discussed above).
This mouse is quite light also, so for people with arthritic problems or carpul tunnel i should imagine this is a good thing for them, as it won’t be heavy on the wrists.
-----| Conclusion |-----
Pretty good mouse for office use or home pc use. This is not a gaming mouse, if you want a gaming mouse pay the money for a Logitech G5. Pretty good for people with movement issues as it is light. Dated design, however there is an updated black version.
I have clicked the yes i would recommend to potential buyers because it is a good mouse for anyone who doesnt mind the white colour and isnt going to be gaming on it.
