Preface: Previously I had a pair of Trust £10-15 headphones/mic which had last for around 6-7 years before one of the earpieces finally broke. So naturally looking through the littlewoods catalogue I decided to try out these Microsoft headphones.
The first thing I noticed when putting these on is how perfectly the ear cups fit. My old ones were very loose fitting; thus letting in more sound from outside, the lx3000 however grips to my head just tightly enough to reduce outside interference, but not too tight to cause discomfort.
They are adjustable, so if you find they fit too tight you could heighten them a little to make them slacker, but for me the standard option is perfect.
I listen to alot of music, so sound quality is very important to me. In my experience of listening to sound both through normal headphones and my 5.1 system, I cannot fault these as far as pc audio goes.
Thirdly there is the microphone, it is quite a large reciever maybe an inch long and 3/4" ish in width, which an equally big foam shield (sorry I do not know the technical term for it). While it's hard to tell yourself how good your microphone is, when talking to my friends on skype, they can tell the difference straight away, my voice comes through much clearer now in crystal quality sound.
The one thing that personally annoys me, is the position of the inline volume/mic controls, sitting upright on my computer chair they are positioned around my legs, this is quite low and it is also heavier than you would expect
While this does not drag the headphones down in an uncomfortable mannor, they do have a tendancy to get caught on the mouse tray of my computer desk, maybe if they were positioned a little higher it would both be much easier to reach and also not likely to catch on things.
So in brief Build Quality: Fantastic Sound in Quality: Fantastic Mic Quality: Fantastic Pet Peeve: Position of In-Line Controls My Rating: 5/5 Recommended: Very much so.
