Welcome to my review about windows live messenger, I will talk about the versions of the windows live messenger. Windows live messenger was called msn messenger, and lots of people passed on the name as MSN. msn is an instant messaging consumer made by Microsoft and is made to work with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows internet explorer 7, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Mobile. The customer has been part of Microsoft's Windows Live set has been a costumer since 2005. It connects to Microsoft's .NET Messenger Service. The customer was first free as MSN Messenger was made on July 22, 1999, the windows live messenger was made on December 13, 2005.
Messenger 4.7
In windows live messenger you can chat to people if they are online, you can make yourself busy, be right back, away, on the phone, out to lunch or appear offline, the person that you are talking to can still talk to you, if you put appear offline you can still talk to the person, and it says this person appears to be offline at the top of you window, and it says you have currently set your status to appear offline, or something like that, when you are away you can do the same thing , if you shut down the computer you will be automatically offline , and when that person sends you the message they will say The following message could not be delivered to all recipients: so that message that you sent the person didn't receive your message, out to lunch is when you are going to eat your lunch, and also you can talk, and the same for all the other ones. You can check your email from the messenger and you can see if the person has got a picture probably a duck! And I would put a Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini or Mercedes Benz; I don't like having no pictures on the messenger lol, so I have put ones of those cars or any picture, in sites if you can put any picture, I wouldn't leave it with no picture, it would be sooooooo dull, if there are sites like ciao which wouldn't let you put any picture it's ok and ciao is sooooooo addicting, so it doesn't matter. If a person is off line or online you can send messages from outlook express, I wish it could be better.
If you don't want to talk to a person you can easily block him (her), you can't talk to them and I can't talk to him unless I unblock him (or her). To block the person is when you've opened a window, there's a button that says block, press it and you can't talk to him, to unblock him (her) you need to do the same thing, but the button says unblock. Then you can talk to him and he can talk to you. When you side-click on the persons email or name you will get a list it is send an instant message, start a voice conversation, start a video conversation, send a file or photo, send email to ( your friends email, your friends email will be written in brackets), ask for remote assistance, start application sharing, start whiteboard, block, copy contact to, move contact to, remove contact from group, delete contact, properties, the contacts properties are sign in name(which is the persons email), status: not online, service NET messenger service and email. You can only click on these when the contact is online here they are send an instant message, start a voice conversation, start a video conversation, send a file or photo, send email to, start application sharing and start whiteboard. These buttons I can't on them they are move to, copy to, and remove contact from group, maybe because I haven't made a group before, I thinks that's not letting me click these buttons. The delete contact is sooooooo simple you need to press delete and then they will ask you are you sure that you want to delete this contact from your contact list?
You need to answer yes or no. when the person is blocked you can only know that he/her is offline( if you unblock the contact he can see you online)and that's it. The bad thing about messenger 4.7 is that you can't send nudges and you can't send emotions, winks, backgrounds, if you send emotions the emotion that you sent is just in words, if you send winks they will say your buddy(or something else) sent you a cool wink which requires the latest version of the messenger and if you want to share a background they say this person has invited you to start Sharing Backgrounds, which requires the latest version of Windows Live Messenger, then they say something like this '' click on this to download the latest version of windows live messenger: http://g.msn.com/5meen_us/122, that is the bad thing about it plus if you want to send a non-moving emotion ,on the new messenger it would be moving. The messenger 4.7 was made in 2004. The messenger can sometimes accept your contact to send you a hand written message, but you can't write a hand written message just them sometimes.
Now About windows live messenger 8.0
Windows live messenger is much better than windows live messenger 4.7, you can change your status to online, appear offline, away, in a call, busy, be right back, out to lunch, online everyone can see you if you are online, appear offline you can still talk to someone without anyone seeing you online, if somebody sent you a message they say: you received instant messages while you were offline. By default, your offline messages are shown automatically when you sign in. for instructions about how to change this setting, click more information. Also if you signed out the same message would come, to get rid of seeing the messages when you sign in press don't show me this message again. Away they say something like this car.dude42 is away and may not reply. In a call is like the same as away. Be right back is like the same too. Out to lunch is the same like away.
Now about the options there is personal, general, messages, alerts and sounds, sharing folders, file transfer, phone, tabs, security, privacy, connection. The personal is like your display name like I put car.dude42 so my contacts can see my display name and you can type your personal message , so your contacts can see it when you are talking to someone your personal message doesn't appear when you send instant messages just your display name, but your personal message appears at the corner at the side of your email. In addition, you can show your song information from windows media player as a personal message you can either tick the box or not tick the box.
You can either choose to show your display picture and allow others to see it or not to tick the box you can press change picture and se what pictures you have to put or you can browse pictures. You can also modify the description of yourself sop your contacts can't see it, to do that press edit profile, now about the status they say show me as away when I'm inactive for 1 minutes(you can put it also for 2 minutes or any number until 59 or 60) and they say dhow me busy and block my alerts when I'm running a full screen program or presentation settings turned on, now the last one for personal is about the webcam you can either tick the box that says allow others to see that I have a webcam or if you don't want your contacts to see your webcam don't click the box. now general about signing in: it Is if you want to run windows live messenger when you first turn on the computer or not just click the box to accept that you want windows live messenger to run when you first turn on the computer and not to accept it don't click the box(it is annoying when you first open the computer and the windows live messenger comes before I connect to the internet. So I advise you don't put windows live messenger to run when you turn on the computer and if you clicked on to run windows live messenger another thing comes open windows live messenger in the main window when windows starts you can accept or decline you know how now but if you didn't accept to run windows live messenger when you turn on the computer windows live messenger doesn't start, also when you first connect to the internet you automatically sign in to the messenger you know now accept or decline by clicking the box and not clicking the box, also they say show windows live today when I sign into windows live messenger . windows live today you can see who sent you messages, news about today, msn online games, etc but the bad thing about it is that sometimes when you press on hotmail it doesn't work, the same thing as the one before about accepting and declining I have said that lots of times, also use the same display picture and personal message whenever I sign in you know now what to do, now displaying your contacts it is show display pictures from other accept or decline? Now their quality improvement this is what they say join our costumer experience improvement and many more I advise you don't join them and they say allow Microsoft to collect anonymous information about how you use windows live messenger also I don't lie this too, now about the video carousel this is what hey said show video carousel in the main windows live messenger window I accepted that and then now the effects: show shadows under window frames I accepted that thing. Now we move to messages: you can change font by pressing change font or when you are talking to someone there is like this and b press on it and you can change your font from there, there is show emotions (I sometimes don't show my emotions so my friend doesn't keep on telling me send me emotions that's why they keep on saying that because I think I have 200 emotions, , but the bad thing about it that my friends emotions will not appear so he can't add them . . . then I modified my emotions and made them in () so it wouldn't appear when I'm sending an instant message so then my friends send me more LOL). . .
now show custom emotions, the custom emotions are these mini pictures that don't move like in messenger 4.7, now show timestamps on messages they tell you what time your contact sent you the instant message… and there is many many more, this is not in order but for the privacy thing is the contacts that you have added and who has added you(like any person that has added you and you didn't add him or you deleted the contact also you can bloc contacts that have added you just need to click on the contact and press allow(which is the same as unblock) or if you want to block the contact press on he contact and press block, to see who has added you press view), that is really it just one thing you can accept or decline this it is alert me when someone has added me).
Now when you are talking to your contact there is a face of an emotion when you press on it there is the featured emotions (when you press on one of the featured emotions, in your conversation window there will be like a mini window which has downloading progress and it takes less than a minute or sometimes one minute, but you will have lots of emotions if you press on all of them you will have about 50 emotions or more, which will be similar to the same as the pictures that are featured, also you can make emotions from a picture you have but it would be like a custom emotion(because it wouldn't move). You can download emotions from sites and if you download one of the messengers I think there will be emotions .Now there is a custom emotion that has one eye open is the winks, if you press on the featured winks you will have lots of winks the winks you can't add them like the emotions, to add an emotion just press on it right click, add then choose the word or letters that you want, now back to the winks if you press on the featured winks you will have lots of winks, I know that I said that before but the bad thing about this one is that you can't make winks not like the emotions. There is an emotion which has its mouth wiggly and he looks like he is going to die that is a nudge(maybe that's why it looks like its going to die), when you press on that emotion for your contact they say car.dude42 has just sent you a nudge it makes a sound that sometimes annoys you.
After that there is a voice clip to make a voice clip you need to press on the button and record but you need to have a webcam to do that(there is another way to record a voice clip, there is at the top of the window which has like a phone and something. Then there is the a/b which means the font(I like comic sans ms it looks attractive, when you do it black), the bad thing about windows live messenger 4.7 and 8.0 it doesn't have a lot of colours about 15 colours or less (I don't know but it doesn't have a lot of colours), then there is a background there is featured backgrounds they are the same as the featured emotions and featured winks but the backgrounds aren't dynamic they are like pictures, there is only four dynamic backgrounds they are some fish in a pond, the second one is lots of clocks which shows the time, the third one is like a scientist(which I call him crazy man) with some potions with an algebraic sum and some light scribbles, the last one is lie you are underwater. You can also create a background(but they are not dynamic). You can write messages in your handwriting(to know how to do it you will now know, when you are writing a message at the corner there is like this pen on a paper and press on it, but look carefully), when you press on it, there is the same picture of the pen on the paper and a mini arrow(the only thing different about it is tat it has an arrow) when you click on the arrow there is fine, normal, bold, it is for you when you want to write a message, if you try fine it is bad, if you try normal it is quite good, if you try bold it is excellent(this is all in my opinion but yours maybe different), then there is the rubber and a arrow, when you press on the arrow there is: small, big, stroke and clear all , the small clears a small bit, the big one is the same, the stroke- is excellent( it clears a lot), ad clear all clears all of it (but maybe you don't want all of it to be cleared?) (so that's the bad thing about it). The next one is the undo and the redo, the undo returns the stuff that you made and redo does the opposite. The next button is the colour that you want to write or draw with it has a arrow press on it and 16 colours will appear. The next button is if you want to make a grid it has a arrow as well press on it and there will appear blank, small grid, medium grid, large grid, the blank grid is all blank, the small grid is quite small(but it is good for writing in capital letters in your handwriting) , the medium grid is alright, the large grid is bad(this is all in my opinion).
Now I will talk about the top of the conversation window first there is the invite button, share files, start or stop a video call button, call a contact, see a list of activities button, see a list of games button, block this contact from seeing you or contacting you.
The invite button is that if you have a contact online you can invite him to your conversation , if there isn't anyone online you can't invite anyone until a person signs in, there is another button go to action, invite someone to this conversation, now the share files button, the share files button is if you want to share files with your friend like pictures and that stuff press share files and choose the file that you want to send, there is another button for share files go to file share single file and that's it for share files.
Now stop or start a video call to make a video call just press the button and start talking, if you don't have a webcam you can't record a video call but if your contact sent you a video call you can hear it, there is two ways for making a video call, go to actions, video, start a video call and the second way is after the nudge there is this button which has a speaker press on it until you have finished recording. Now call a contact, to call a contact you need to sign up with a site ad write your contacts number, where are you calling from …etc, there is another way for calling a contact actions, call, call computer or call phone. Then there is the see list of activities button, this isn't very good , there activities aren't that good, there is also another way to see a list of activities it is: actions, start an activity. Then there is see a list of games, there games aren't that good too boring, there is also another way to see a list of games, actions, play a game. The next button is block this contact from seeing you there is three ways for this: go to options, privacy, press on the contact that you want to block ,then press block, the second way is go to windows live messenger, right click, block this contact, the third way is to right click on the contacts picture, block this contact. After a lot of steps there is like a paint brush you can change the colour of your conversation with that, after it there is a dumb show button when you press on the button there is file with an arrow, edit with an arrow, actions with an arrow, tools with an arrow, help with an arrow.
If you press file thee will appear save, save as, send a single file, open received files, in grey there is view message history(because I don't save the previous conversations, you can save your conversations but I don't like saving conversations I find it too messy.) In addition, the last one is close (they mean close window).
The next thing is edit when you press on it there will be undo ctrl+z(if you didn't delete something or pressed cut, it will be grey, if you pressed delete or cut, you can press undo or ctrl+z), the next one is cut(if you didn't press cut, the cut button will be grey there is a shortcut for cut it is ctrl+x , the next one is copy (its shortcut is crtl+c), it would be grey if you didn't cut or copy something, to be a sort of blackish you need to copy, and cut something, the next one is paste(its shortcut is crtl+v), if you copied it, it would be a sort of blackish and if you didn't copy anything it would be grey, the next one is delete(its shortcut is del), it keeps on being grey if you delete something it would still be grey(ok it doesn't matter), the next one is select all(its shortcut is crtl+a), it would be black if you pressed select all or crtl+a or you can just highlight it. the next one is search(it doesn't have a shortcut), actually it has one when you are writing a message to your contact next to the send button is like this magnifier that is the search button(also I have told you how to search), the next one is change font, thee are a lot of shortcuts, the first one is right click, change font, the second one is tools, options, messages, change font…..the third one is edit, change font … …..
now we move to actions(this is the last one that I'm going to write about for windows live messenger 8.0, there are many more but I am bored so actions is the last one, I will tell you what are the other two the one after actions is tools, and the last one is help), now back to actions… the first one for actions is to invite a contact to join this conversation(you can't add somebody to the conversation ,unless he/she is online, if your contact isn't online you can't add them to the conversation, did you now understand???
The next one is send an instant message(you can't send an instant message unless your contact is online, I don't know about this but I think they also mean by sending an instant message to send an offline instant message), now we have finished from that, now send other with an arrow(if you press on it there will be single file….etc, thwe next one is call a contacts computer , ( to call a contact you need to sign up with a site ad write your contacts number, where are you calling from …etc, there is another way for calling a contact actions, call, call computer or call phone ),
The next one is video with an arrow(Now for video there is video call, to make a video call just press the button and start talking, if you don't have a webcam you can't record a video call but if your contact sent you a video call you can hear it, there is two ways for making a video call, go to actions, video, start a video call and the second way is after the nudge there is this button which has a speaker press on it until you have finished recording) , the next one is start an activity(the activities aren't that good, there is also another way to see a list of activities it is: actions, start an activity. Then there is play a game, the games aren't that good too boring, there is also another way to see a list of games, actions, play a game, thee is another shortcut for start a game, when you are sending an instant message or offline instant message at the top there is like a picture of a game and press on it, the next one is request remote assistance (really I don't know what that is) and many more.
Now we move to windows live messenger 8.1
Really I think windows live messenger 8.1 is the same as windows live messenger 8.0 I will talk about the status and a bit about the options: you can change your status to online, appear offline, away, in a call(the thing about it, how can you change your status to in a call and somebody needs you? maybe you do it in a second?), busy, be right back, out to lunch, if you are online everyone can see you if, appear offline you can still talk to someone without anyone seeing you online, if somebody sent you a message they say: you received instant messages while you were offline(I think they say that). Out to lunch is the same like away, most of them are like each other just the difference is what you are doing. Now I will talk about the options: I think the options are like windows live messenger 8.0 , if it is: I now a lot then, if it is like it read some of the windows live messenger 8.0 lots of it is like messenger 8.0 but with a bit more features, I think I have it, wait a minute….oh my version is the 8.5 but most of them are like windows live messenger 8.0 and windows live messenger 8.1(maybe they just add features).
Windows live messenger 8.5
This is the version that I have, it is ok and its features is sometimes like the same, I know one that is the same there is like this toolbar that has pictures like Xbox live, check out windows live, connect with windows live messenger, to know what year was this messenger is go to help, about windows live messenger.
Windows live messenger 2009
Windows live messenger 2009 is much more different than the 8.0, the 8.1 and the 8.5. it has new features and a new look. It was made on the 15th December 2008, which is thirty days ago. It has a softer look than the other messengers, it has much more better stuff, but if you have the windows live messenger 2009 tell me if there is any more default pictures, or if you can browse pictures.
Msn messenger
Ha ha ha ha ha ha…..msn messenger looks dull, the other ones are much more than this even windows live messenger 4.7 is better than this, when you log in they say click here to log in and at the bottom thee is not logged on, and it is not attractive at all, it looks very old, not many people use this messenger, and it wouldn't let me sign in(about 5 years ago), but it keeps on annoying me, just the windows live messenger lets me sign in(I haven't signed in to it for 5 years and I find the windows live messenger much more better than this piece of crap.
I first got a computer, complete with internet, back in 2002, the week my brother was born. It was meant to be a birthday present but I got it two weeks early, perhaps because my brother was getting loads of attention and I might have felt left out. Maybe they just grabbed a bargain when they could. Either way, I was thrilled to bits and spent ages playing games and searching things on the internet. But back them, I had no knowledge of MSN. I cannot ... ...Messenger service, which was later called MSN Messenger, first came about in 1999. It was a lot more basic than it is now, barely more than a live chat window with a few special features. Though over the years this did improve, and several versions have been released, each time improving. Now we are at Windows 8.5, also known as Windows Live Messenger 2009. I have only just downloaded this today, so I shall take you through it as I discover it!

Advantages: Easy & cheap way to keep in touch with friends & family Disadvantages: Addictive, not very personal.
I've been using MSN Messenger now for 6 maybe 7 years, and quite possibly used it almost everyday, which I think, should qualify me to write a review on it!! There have been many different upgrades over the years, and it's currently on version 6.1. MSN gives you the ability to talk to your family and friends on any computer that has it running, meaning you can talk to anyone you like no matter where you are in the world. However, it's not just your ... ...talk to are those who you have personally added, or you have allowed to add you, to your own contacts list. Every user has their own personal contact list, and when you log in, these contacts appear on screen, and from there you may talk to whoever is online at the time. MSN is very simple to use, and now includes audio conversations, viewing eachother via webcams, video conferencing, sending files & photos, playing games (such as bejewelled and ...

Thanks to its global identity it’ll be recognised. Another reason is, like I have said, its far better than the others. ...Messenger comes as part of Microsoft Internet Explorer; it’s usually on your system when you install windows (For XP I am sure although other operating platforms I’m not so sure of). You can however download it if it’s not there by visiting the MSN home page and going to the following address: http://messenger.msn.co.uk
It’s a free utility and one you do not have to pay for, although you do need an internet connection of some kind to use it. You ... ...this is easily done and a free service too join. I think you can use it with other email service providers although it won’t be able to check your email for you, so the service may be limited. To gain .net passport go to the MSN website: http://www.msn.co.uk or http://www.msn.com
Then click on the Sign In button
Is it Easy To Use? My mum can use it LOL. In other words yes it is. All the applications are clearly labelled, there’s a help section ...

Advantages: Communication is somthing i am a firm believer in and this software promotes this accross the world. Being a free download and no usage restrictions you really have got no excuse for being without it. Making for a much more enjoyable internet experience. Disadvantages: Perverts and other such charactors stalk individual children etc via this software, the blocking facility eliminates the problem however.
Advantages: Microsoft Messenger 6 is free,it has stacks more emoticons, video function and audio usage , Disadvantages: I can find none, I just wish I had found it sooner
Advantages: Easy to use, fun and modern feel, customisable ?smilies?, closely paralleled with Hotmail, multiple contacts in one 'room' Disadvantages: Can be obtrusive, occasional errors prevent signing in, some problems with programs within
INTRODUCTION
In terms of the computing industry, you must be the newest newbie if you've never heard of Microsoft. Microsoft creates many software applications, as well as hardware, for use with the PC. It also has Hotmail, probably the most popular web-mail client so far, although Google is close at its heals with its new service Gmail (see my previous review for details of this great new account).
Microsoft also has a very popular Instant Messaging programme, and best of all, it's free. The giant of computing prevails once more in terms of popularity, and here, I explain why.
WHAT'S SO GOOD ABOUT MSNMESSENGER?
Firstly, Microsoft always seems to have a big budget on advertising and promoting its goods. This is probably the key to it being so successful. People would have seen the product, gave it a try, and then would ...
Advantages: Real time chatting, voice chat, smilies! Disadvantages: No invisible mode, no offline messages.
Ok, I have sat here trying to think of the best way to kick off this review and give and introduction to the world of MSNmessenger but for the life of me I just can?t do it. Who hasn?t heard of it? The vast majority of people have it so really it?s a bit of a given.
For the few of you who haven?t yet been bitten by the messenger bug as yet, the best way to describe it is really email but in real time and a lot faster.
But then that in itself is a bit too simplistic as it offers you a lot more than just that.
I have had various incarnations of this program over the years and have now got about 120 different contact in it and use it to chat to people all over the world (and round the corner!) and simply feel that the internet would not be the same without it.
So where to start?
How do I get Started ...
