If you enjoy playing online on your xbox 360 and your router is not easily accessible with wires then you should seriously consder getting yourself a wireless adapter.
The Adapter cost around £50-£60 which I think is ridiculously over priced for what is simply a wireless adapter which generally cost aroud £10, but seeing as it is the only option for wireless gaming on the Xbox 360 then if you really want wireless it is your only option.
The adapter was very easy to set up. You simply click it into place at the back of the Xbox 360 and plug the usb plug into the port, and adjust the aerial to face upwards for maximum range. Once you have the adapter in place and plugged in, when you turn on your xbox you will be greeted with a message asking you if you want to configure your wireless device to a network. Clicking 'yes' will bring you to a new page showing all wireless networks in your area. My adapter had no trouble in finding my router which is around 7 metres away and has two walls inbetween it and the adapter. The network came up instantly and clicking on it will bring you to a new screen.
The new screen will ask you to enter all the necessary information for you to access your network. You can automatically search for IP address, Subnet Mask and Gateway and automatically search for your DNS settings. Your Adapter should automatically find your network type and your wireless security settings, then you simply type in your network code and click confirm and your Xbox is connected Wirelessly.
The wireless adapter on the back of your Xbox doesn't detract away from the style of your xbox at all. You may think it may look like a tumor growing out of the back of your xbox but it actually looks like a nice accessory for your Xbox, but it does only come in white so if you own an elite console it can look a bit out of place.
I have now owned my adapter for around 3 months and it has run pretty smoothly. I encounter no lagging while playing online games and it is runs very fast downloads take a reasonable time. Although It works well while you are playing I have sometimes encountered a problem of not being able to connect to the network, this has happened to me a few times and all times leaving the xbox alone for an hour and turning it back on has sorted the problem out, so there are no long term issues with this problem.
My advice is if you want to have your Xbox somewhere that isnt near your router and you are frequently playing online then i would buy this Adapter as it really does work brilliantly, but if you do not play online that often then maybe you should consider not buying this as it is quite expensive and maybe treat yourself to a game instead.
Hope this has helped.
