I have now bought two of these one of the Xbox versions and a cheaper version. The idea behind this is that the Xbox controller comes with a pack that fits two double A batteries but these are a bit of a waste of time because they run out of power so quickly.
When you buy this play and charge kit it has a power lead and a rechargeable battery. The idea is that you connect the power lead to the Xbox by a USB connection and the other end is attached to the controller. It charges the battery as you play The Xbox version is definitely a better quality than the other brands but I have had problems with the one I bought.
It only charges sporadically and I keep running out of charge. Very annoying! I won't criticise it to much because I bought it at Gamestation, it was pre owned. Unfortunately I didn't keep the receipt so I couldn't return it. The idea is handy and when it is charged up you can disconnect and run it wirelessly, which is a bit more convenient. When the rechargeable battery is fully charged it seems to last for days. Much better than using the AA's. It's also available in other colours, the only other colour i've seen is black.
The main complaint I have about Xbox accessories is that I feel that almost everything is an extra with them even the internet online gaming and this annoys me but I guess that's why the machine is so much cheaper than the Playstation 3. It would be nice to get a few of these things included with the main console. However I digress and it's not my main aim to moan about Xbox. The play and charge kit is a good bit of kit. It cost me £9.99 pre owned and I think the full price is £15. The one thing i find odd about the pricing of all Xbox accesories that every retailer is more or less at the same price and even in the sales there is never much money off them. Not that i'm suggesting price fixing.
I bought the quick charge kit today which I will review after I get a bit of use out it.
