...and its all thanks to Microsoft and the fact that they don't charge extortionate prices for this product.
As far as connecting the mouse to the computer is concerned it is unlike most other in its range. It can either be attached to the mouse port, but it also has a USB connection so I can also used on a laptop. I have used both and it realy is very easy to do. A driver has to be put on the PC or laptop but this is very quick to do ... ...Mac, if I did, it would also work on it.
Instead of using a ball it uses motion sensors so there is no issue with performance being hampered as the interior becomes clogged up with dust and other bits that sit on work surfaces. As far as responsiveness is concerned I think this is fantastic. The slightest movement of the mouse results in immediate movement of the onscreen cursor.
When the the interior of my last mouse became clogged up with grease, fur and bits of food (a lovely image I'm sure) even a good old scrape at the insides with a knife wouldn't make it work in an acceptable manner so I had to look for a replacement. I wanted a cordless optical mouse but my better half put a stop to that as soon as she saw the prices. In the end, I settled for the Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 for £9.99.

I am left handed so normally I have problems with using a mouse but the design allows for use by both left and right handed users. The texture of the mouse almost seems to hold onto my plam as well making it easy to grip. Very little effort is needed and the buttons are all at my fingertips again adding to the ease of use. The middle track wheel lets me zoom in and out of web pages and the driver allows the buttons to be changed so I can use the wheel as a selector rather than the normal two buttons that are positioned to the left and right of it.
I paid £10 for this mouse and as I learn more and more about it never cease to be amazed at how many features it has and how easy it is to use in comparison to other mouse devices on the market. This is the best I've ever used and for purchase price cannot think of any opther brand or model people should go and buy. This has appeal to everyone from PC and laptop users to those with Mac's.
Advantages: any surface, distance, battery life Disadvantages: none
I've had my wireless mouse for 12 months now, and I'm firmly in the "don't know how I lived without it" category.
I don't normally buy gadgets - not a technical type, and get confused by all the options - but the fiddly and over-sensitive touchpad on my laptop was driving me to distraction. I bought the Microsoft WNO Mouse pretty much at random (ok - I confess - I liked the colour) but it's been excellent value for money. I work from home, and always have a phone, a notepad and pen, and copious printouts scattered around my laptop, so I need a mouse that will work from any range or on any surface - and this does.
The distance function is helpful for demonstrating stuff to clients without having to breathe down their necks. My daughter also discovered that it would work across the kitchen to get round the ban on using my laptop ...
