I have Microsoft Office Standard 2007 on my PC for two months. Software development is my job. In most of the cases I don't need much time to undrestand how some software is working but with Microsof Office 2007 ......
When I saw for the first time Microsoft Word 2007 I was really suprised. I didn't find how to Save my file. Microsoft developed a new conception about their products and I really can't understand why. I don't have time and willingness to start learning Microsoft products again.
The new conception is that you don't have the drop down menus. There are eight tabs in which are collected the functions. The tabs are: Home, Insert, Page Layout, References, Mailings, Review, View, Add-Ins. Guess where is "Count words" for example.
Unfortunately the name of the tabs are not the same as were the name of the menus and you don't know what is where.
When you want to save your file, you don't click on File and after that on Save but you click on an icon which is on the top lef corner of the screen.
The new conception is not intuitive and you need time to bring back the speed of your work. You now what you need but you don't know where it is. This fact make you nervous and stressed.
I saw interesting changes in Exel. When you want to change the cell colour you see the changes immediatly when the mouse is on the colour.

I would have to agree with your comments. I've found Word 2007 sets default line spacing on a new document which is annoying to asy the least as it creates huge gaps between your sentences and it takes a few minutes to figure out where you need to go to change it back.
