My very first computer had Microsoft office word on it, back in 2000, however when you buy a computer now Office is not included. Now you are forced to use Works or pay upwards of £100 extra for the basic programmes which is somewhat rediculous for what you are actually getting.
The New Layout... In the new version of Microsoft Office Word ther is a whole new layout and style. whereas before now all actions were in drop boxes they are now tabbed. This means that all of the actions are now much harder to find, particularly if you are used to using the old version of this software. The tabs are pretty much titled the same as the drop boxes were other than file now being a windows logo and the former standard toolbar with font and sizes on it is now a tab labelled "home", in general this setup is confusing and although it looks very good and stylish it is very impractical, especially if you have a small moniter, or a low screen resolution in which case you can barely see any of your document, which makes it much harder to read through.
New Features... Other than the obvious new layout word 2007 does not really have any new features over word 2003, to what I have seen. All of the features of 2003 are still there but there is not really anything new to make it better. The main change is god, and the only other is ok but can get annying. This means that when you select text to change the font it shows you what the text is going to look like before you change it when you hover over the text style, meaning constantly changing text styles when you scroll through the list.
Installation... Installing the product is incredibly simple but beware, you need time on your side as it takes a very long time. The loading time is also a problem when you start it up after installation. The installation is poor in this respect but otherwise not too bad.
Pricewise... Microsoft word is included in the lowest edition of office 2007 which costs around £100, however for other more advanced versions with more programmes on it it can cost up to several hundred. This really is just an additional cost for an unnecessary product.
Reccomendations... I would only reccomend word 2007 if you absolutely must use it. If you insist on using microsoft word over microsoft works word processor I would reccomend office 2003 as apposed to 2007 as it is less expensive and certaintly much easier to use.
