XBL COMMUNICATION HEADSET FTW!
Advantages: Value for money. Disadvantages: Some problems.
The Xbox live communicator headset is an accessory that comes with Xbox Premium Console and Xbox elite controller and is one method of using the voice messaging services on Xbox live, The headset itself connects to the Xbox 360 wireless controller via a cable only. Usability
The headset itself connects easily to the XBOX Wireless controller and the connecter itself never disconnects whilst using, this is a perfect design feature as a lot of other headsets use basic audio input sockets(like on a cd player) which aren’t very reliable. The connecter has a switch on it that allows you to turn of the Microphone which is useful if some come in real life is talking to you whilst playing the game.
The cable itself you would think be annoying being attached to the controller and being on your head, but strangely the cable never gets in the way and is long enough not to effect game play, However some people disagree with this and prefer wireless head sets, but for me it’s not a problem.
The part of the headset that fits on your head can be adjusted so it fits you comfortably and never moves from the position you put it in one side is held on by a pressure pad, which is comfortable as made with a soft material and the other side the ear phone which you can hear the people you’re talking to on. Each of these are comfortable and sometimes you forget it’s on your head which is great.
The earphone that is on the head set is covered with that usual stuff you find on headphones and comfortably fits on your ear without any major problems and I think the fact it only has one headphone is better as you can still hear what is going on around you.
The microphone on the headset swings down from the earphone, and can be bended to suit the size of your head, this allows you to adjust how far away the microphone is or move it if its getting in your way.
The headset as a whole is light and pretty durable, the great thing about the usability is the fact it can be adjusted to suit you, over all the way it was designed is perfect for game play and I give the usability of this accessory and A+.
Style
The design of the communicator fits in with the xbox360 colour scheme and looks very professional, the only problem is if you have a custom styled xbox and the custom headset isn’t available the headset looks out of place from the rest of your gaming gear. The great thing about the design is the look of the headset hasn’t effected the usability of it which I think is fantastic. The 360 was one of the first to provide these headsets on a large scale for its users and even though it was a new thing the style of this is perfect.
Problems
Although I do think this product is amazing, there are some flaws which do upset me slightly the first one is the fact the muff on the microphone isn’t fully connected and often falls off which is slightly odd as this could have been permanently attached to the headset.
A second problem is sometimes while using the connection between the headset and connection seems to go for about 15 minutes although this rare I find this very off as well. Another problem is although really durable my friend picked mine up the other day and it snapped, so I have buy another, were not sure why so I can’t complain about this, apart from that incident I have found you can do a lot with them without them breaking.
Alternatives
Alternatively you can purchase a wireless headset for £39.99, this is a major ouch seen as the wired ones are far cheaper. I have personally tried the wireless one and I found it to be too heavy when attached to my ear, so I will stick with the wired ones!
Price
The price of this item if you don’t get it with your console is relatively cheap with a recommended RRP of £9.99 however new ones can be picked up on eBay for as little as £4.50 which is a bargain! I think this item is worth buying if you like communicating with others and it does enhance your game play tactics, as well as being able to send messages to your friends.
Conclusion
In conclusion this is a product I would recommend as it has excellent design, is easy & effortless to use and is relatively affordable, even though I had a few problems with it, this hasn’t put me off at all.

Advantages: allows you to communicate to your friends and other games over xbox live Disadvantages: uncomfortable, feels cheap and isn't always the best quality
...was a good move from Microsoft allowing them to save money on the headset that comes with the console and allowing them to sell their upmarket wireless headset for a much higher price.
If you have the cash, definitely go with the wireless headset, but if not you can just about put up with the freebie like me.
Summary: if like me, you haven't got the cash to fork out on a wireless headset, this will have to do... ...

...that if your headset breaks Microsoft will send you a new one free of charge which is good to know however and does sort of balance out the fact they break easily. There is also a wireless headset which is meant to be better and I would say it is probably better if you can afford it! 3/5 Recommended but it could be better! Advantages: Official from Microsoft for the xbox Disadvantages: Expensive, ugly, painful, bad quality
These are Microsoft's official headphones/headset for the Xbox 360. It is primarily meant to be used for Xbox live so that you can hear other people and talk to other people while gaming.
They aren't very comfortable. They only have one earpiece, the other side is a bit of plastic that digs into your head so you have to keep moving it to stop it hurting.
The sound quality is very poor, even when playing LAN games where bandwidth isn't an issue ... ...supposed to go in front of your mouth, but it is not possible to position it like that. You either have to have it really far away in front or to one side, the bendy thing that it is mounted on isn't long enough.
And to top it all off this headset will cost you £15. If you really want to play Xbox live then you would be better off just not using voice or if you love voice then spending £5 or £10 on a 3rd party product that will be 10x better. ...

This headset is Microsoft's own official product and is a communicator which can be used for voice enabled chat with other xbox live users around the world.
The Headset plugs into the bottom of the Xbox 360's controller.
This headset goes on over the top of your head instead of round the back which sometimes they do.
This is neither an advantage or disadvantage but has more to do with your personal preference.
(For me I prefer over the top ones ... ...with it on I like to lean back against the wall).
I have found the these headsets can break very easily if not treated very carefully as I am now onto my third one.I have found that things like resting the controller on its bottom whilst holding it can bend the headset's wire at the end causing it to stop working.
On the plastic piece that connects the headset to the controller is a volume slider for the sound and a switch to mute and unmute the ...

the official 360 headset from microsoft is a good piece of equipment as it allows you to talk to anyone you want around the world with ease.
the headset easily plugs into the control and you then ae ready.
it is comfortable and after a while you will forget that it is even on your head as it is also very light. also as it is plugged into the controller, if you are using a wireless one you can even walk away downstairs and still talk to some body. ... ...most of the time its not that great, however it is never terrible, but sometimes you do get echo which is really annoying.
it has a flexible tip which you can bend so it is near your mouth, and adjust it to your likeing.
it has a mute button on the headset so that you can mute it when you have to speak to someone else or you have to cough or something and you dont want every one to hear ;)
overall this product in my opinion is worth a buy as it ...
