Microsoft Official Xbox 360 Communicator Headset (Live)

The Xbox 360 Headset is something that was received free with my fiance's Xbox 360 Core which he got from me in December 2007 as his main Christmas present. However, you can also buy this headset for £10.97 from Amazon.co.uk with free super saver delivery.

The headset is made from plastic and comes in an off white & grey colour. There is a band which is designed to fit over the wearers head and is adjustable to hit all different head sizes. I like to think that my huge amazing brain gives me a big head and this certainly adjusts to fit me with no problems. One side of the headset has a plastic bar which is designed to fit just above your ear and on the other side there is an earpiece which is covered in grey foam. The foam is quite thick and very comfortable on my eye. This ear piece can be turn over enabling the headset to be on either your left ear or your right ear depending on your personal preference. The headset is wired and has a plug on the end which is designed to be plugged straight in to the Xbox 360 controller or numerous other Xbox 360 console. The plug itself has a mute button which is simply switched right to mute the microphone or left to open up the microphone. The plug also has a dial which allows you to adjust the volume of the earpiece and therefore the level that you hear other Xbox 360 players when on Xbox Live.

The headset is a great piece of equipment for use with Xbox Live and it's essential if you really want to take part in some of the online games. It allows you to speak to friends and family who are online at the same time as well as taunt online game players or console with them as well as swap tips and get to know people in general.

I have personally found the design of the headset to be very comfortable and several hours wear at a time have not given me any pain or problems at all. I thoroughly enjoy being able to chat to people online without having to use the online keyboard as this is very time consuming when using the Xbox 360 controller. I have met quite a few new people online to play games with just through being able to talk back to them when in a game room.

It is also possible to use the headset as a microphone for games such as Guitar Hero and the like. This is great as it is one less item that you have to pay out for!

I have always found the headset to work very well when using it with Xbox Live and it's pretty clear with little noise problems and feedback. The only issue I usually have is that I have either forgotten I've got the microphone muted or I've not turned the sound up enough!

I will be highly recommending this headset as we've had ours for over 18 months now and it gets fairly regular usage without any breaks or damage occurring and I quite often forget that I am wearing it because it's very comfortable. I am going to rate the headset 5/5 and if you do purchase one and have any issues then contact the Xbox 360 Support team and they will arrange for a replacement to be sent out to you free of charge (I have never had to use this feature so can't comment on it's ease).

Summary: A fantastic headset which is well made and has stood up against a fair few knocks.
