A must for the avid Halo fan
Advantages: Halo themed, looks very nice, durable, unlikely to scratch Disadvantages: Expensive

And when I saw it for sale in a local GAME store about six months later, I knew I had to have it.
Appearance
The picture above doesn't quite do this justice, so here's an online version:

The faceplate is primarily a kind of deep blue similar to, but darker than, the Halo 3 logo. It's covered in subtle but intricate patterns very typical of Bungie lore - the kind of symbols you see scattered throughout the Halo universe, along with previous universes the company have created.
On the right (assuming your console is lying flat) is the Master Chief in a pose seen on merchandising from the Halo 2 era - clutching a submachinegun and looking upwards. Like the background, it's a very typical Halo thing, so the faceplate just clicks immediately.
The faceplate is made of fairly thick plastic so it's unlikely to break unless you really set about destroying the thing - which a hammer, say. It's very smooth as well, but the plastic is highly durable so it won't scratch either.
On The Console
Like all officially manufactured (and, I assume, unofficially manufactured) faceplates, this one just clips on in place of the basic one that comes with the Xbox 360 console - once the basic one is removed, of course. Everything fits and looks perfect.
One slight 'problem' I have here is the fact that the Xbox 360 is white (or black, if you have the Elite version) and thus from any angle other than the front it looks a bit unnatural - there's a sudden change of deep blue to a slightly creamy white which looks a bit odd at first. My faceplate has been on the front of my Xbox 360 for a long time, though, so I'm quite used to it and it doesn't look so strange anymore.
Extras
The faceplate also comes with a code which you can enter on the Xbox Live Marketplace to download a free Halo-based theme. At the time I got mine, there were three themes to choose from, but I assume there are more now, especially since Halo 3 has since arrived.
Cost
Unfortunately, the high cost is another problem I have with this faceplate - and faceplates in general, since they're all relatively the same price. This puppy will set you back £14.99 - which is an awful lot just for your console to look different. However, if you're an avid Halo fan (which I am) then you'll probably be willing to shell out for it - especially if you're bored of the plain old white faceplate.
General
This faceplate looks very nice and is highly durable, so it's a tough one to wear out. Definitely for the most avid of Halo players, though - especially with that £14.99 pricetag.
Look for it in game shops, like GAME and HMV - currently it's unavailable on Amazon.

Advantages: Great look, durable, high quality, not a cheap faceplate (not 3rd party bad plastic ones) Disadvantages: Colour doesnt match with rest of console
Faceplates are great, they let you customise your consoles looks, without voiding the warranty for just wanting to change the colours of the front of it, it adds a nice kind of fashion statement to your 360. If you have lots of faceplates, you can show off your new console in many different looks, to show off to others. If you get the chance to get a faceplate with a game you want to buy, preorder it, and get that limited edition faceplate, it is ... ...you could show off, or even sell on the internet after a while for much more than what you got it for.
First of all, there are 2 sides to make about this faceplate, a good side, and a partly bad side.

For a faceplate in general, its a great design, looks great when vertical, as the patern on it seems to climb up the console when vertical.

first of all, microsoft have done a great thing with the option to change the way your 360 looks. this product is very easy to attach to the 360 all you have to do is pop the one you have on and pop this new one on. it changes the look of your 360 changing it from the old boring one, to the new colourful one which looks alot better. it is quite tough so it would be difficult to break, so dont worry about that.

Advantages: customability of 360 without modding case, pretty, good quality. Disadvantages: none
Faceplates for the 360 are great, You can change the look of your 360 without voiding the warranty of your console.
There are loads of faceplates to choose from when wanting a new look for your 360, from limited edition games faceplates that come with games (when pre-ordered).
This faceplate inparticular is great, the change from the original faceplate on the console from the box does not jump out at you, unlike some other faceplates, and it goes ... ...orange and white, where the white connects to the white on the side of the case, although the orange doesnt, its the best choice for a small difference in your consoles look, without making it look ugly.
Other than being a new faceplate and looking nice, it doesnt really serve any other use, there are no extra features that come with it.

Advantages: makes your console look different to your mates. Disadvantages: not a needed item for the console
...official made product from the Microsoft team so no need to worry bout the color flaking off or anything like that. also the faceplate\'s are rather simple to be be removed off the front of the console and replaced by a new one.
