What can you actually put on the hard drive?
The hard drive comes with a free Xbox live arcade game Hexic Hd which is reasonably fun for a little while (and I have reviewed it)
Right firstly you will want to store your game saves but they only take up little space (a few MB!) so you can have as many as them as you could want.
If you have Xbox live you can also download lots more stuff like arcade games, films, videos, updates, extra levels, maps for games, gamer pictures, themes, avatar clothes and much more.
You can also download full games for your Xbox (a great idea but some reason they cost more than they would in the shop, don`t have a manual, box , take up loads of space and cannot be sold on so I would definitely not recommend this!
You can also store music on your Xbox and you simply burn a CD to the hard drive and can listen to music while playing games! So you can listen to heavy metal while playing shooting games or whale sounds if that is your thing! This can be useful if a game has awful music as you simply play your favourite music and the awful sounds are gone!
The hard drive on its own is stupidly expensive so you should just buy a console with a hard drive or maybe try Ebay for one!
Overall, a hard drive makes your Xbox so much better and you have to have one!

The Xbox 360 20GB Hard Drive is quite good looking, for a hard drive, it is very different from your basic PC hard drive. It has been modelled perfectly after the Xbox 360 styling so it will obviously fit in perfectly with your Xbox 360 console. The Hard Drive itself is a rounded rectangular box; it has a reasonable ... ...On the top you get a shiny metallic badge which reads HDD in faded white lettering (in the Xbox 360 font of course) the metal finish makes it feel really nice and makes me think of a quality device like the metallic skinned iPod.
Around the drive you get a chrome finish, unfortunately this isn't metal but it looks really nice and blends in nicely with the Xbox 360 disk tray. On the back of the drive you have a connector which slots into your Xbox ...

Advantages: good hard drive which looks nice and can store whatever you want! Disadvantages: quite expensive - but you can still do alot with it!
If you own an Xbox 360 then it is almost impossible to really utilise everything that is available to you without having this 20GB hard drive. If you own the premium console or the elite then you will be fine as these already come with their own hard drives. However if you have bought the arcade console or the core console then i would certainly advise buying a hard drive so that you can really fulfill the potential of such a great console and get ... ...the premium console, which later broke so I bought the arcade console, but fortunately I already had my hard drive and just moved it to my new console - I would have to say that this hard drive is indispensable and extremely important part of my console as it has so many different purposes.

this is a storage device for the xbox 360.
this device gives you 20 gb of memory for your gamesaves and other stuff such as demos and trailers. however when you attach it, it will say that you only have 14 gb of memory even though you havent downloaded anything. there is a reason for this though, you havent been conned out of 6 gb, that 6gb is saved for updates ect. which is very important to keep your 360 up to date as without the hard drive you ... ...to date 360. the hard drive connects to the side of the xbox which i feel actually makes it look better.
you can also save music on the hard drive so while playing games you can listen to your favourite tracks. it is more than enough memory to have all your favourite demos and videos that you have downloaded from xbox live. however you may need to delete some when you want to download new content. but just delete the most boring ones ;).

Advantages: Fast drive saving Disadvantages: Its sold as a 20GB Drive but only 13GBs Free Space!!
I got this given to me for Chritmas as i got fed up with the 64MB Memory Stick.
Im slightly disapointed with it on one aspect but its so nice to be able to save lots of games to the drive.
It was easy to fit just pressed it into pleace and locked in simple. Turned on the console and it was ready to fly i did not need to format it or anything.
Slight disapointment is that it only reads 13GBs Free when its a 20GB Drive!!
Drive is nice and fast ... ...so unable to comment on this. I belive you can download demos from XBOX Live to play from the hard disk.
I got the instruction manuals in various languages nicely boxed could of had abit of protectiveness around it in the packing as it was a plastic molded carton.
I belive it cost 54.00 from amazon.
