Time to share with you my experiences of the wireless headset available for the Xbox 360. I noticed this category only has "helpful" rated opinions at best so time to make an in depth report on this piece of hardware! However, most options seem to completely contradict what im about to say about it!
Background. The Xbox 360 is one of the most popular computer games consoles around. Its made even more popular by the fact you can play games online with other owners around the world. Whats even better is you can communicate with these users if you own a headset with built in microphone. With some of the more expensive console packages, you actually get a wired headset with it. However this needs to be plugged into the front of your controller and can be somewhat restrictive. Therefore, Microsoft developed this......The Wireless Communication headset.
How does it look? Well as you can see from the picture, its quite small. About 100mm long with a flexible earloop that fits around the back of your ear for comfort. The earloop is made of soft rubber and comes with 2 sizes in the box. 1 for smaller ears and 1 for bigger ears! However, even the bigger one does not fit me too well so tends not to sit flush against my head.
How easy is it to install? Its a real pain to be honest. Its all done wirelessly which caused a few headaches. Hold this button for a few seconds.....Do this....do that....press this button. Ok so the instructions that come with it explain it well enough but i just could not get my console to "sync" it up with my controller. The goal is to get the headset to become one with the controller yet mine seemed to connect to the Xbox ok but not realise it was meant to be linked to my controller. Therefore it would not hear or receive communication for me. After a lot of resetting, powering the headset down, etc I finally got it to sync. How good quality is the sound? Quality is ok, its the quantity that causes an issue. You just cannot hear it! Its not loud enough. Also it sounds very distorted and not as clear as through the wired headset. There are Volume buttons on the headset (either side of the power button) but with the headset in place, you cant see them. you are feeling in the dark so to speak. Doing this, I kept turning it off rather than turning it up!
How good is the Mic? Its not. It is in the end of the long piece as shown in the picture and this flexibe to bend. You can position the mic more towards your face but its simply not long enough to get "front on" contact when speaking. People would say "I cant hear you, are you still there?" which is very annoying when im shouting at them and the mic is not picking it up.
How long does its battery last? This shocked me. Within an hour of gaming and communicating, it was dead. Totally Dead. It then needed to be plugged into the charger again for 4 hours to charge up. Not good when you do the amount of gaming i do! I have now lost the charger too which may be a blessing in disguise. Not only that but i had to re sync the headset again once it was charged as it lost its connection! ARGH!
Price? I paid £30 for mine about 8 months ago. Considering the wired ones are half of this and, in my opinion, they do not perform very well, I do not think they are priced well enough. Too expensive for something that claims to be better than it is.
Overall? Given the choice, I would stick with the wired headset. The technology is just not developed enough yet and perhaps a bad design to consider this the automatic choice when buying a headset. Its a pain to set up, runs out of battery in a flash and even when its charged, does not really work all that well. Poor marks to Microsoft as their controllers are spot on. Its just a shame their headsets do not follow suit.

Review of Microsoft Official Xbox 360 Wireless Headset
Advantages: Sleek, stylish and reliable Disadvantages: Costs twice the normal wired headset
I originally had the basic wired headset which comes with the xbox 360 premium console. Unfortunately this one was broken by my mum who hoovered up the wire causing it to rip out. I then bought a second one of these which broke of its own accord, and i was then rather fed up with the normal wired headset and opted to go for this new wireless headset.
It was quite a bit more expensive at £30 to the normal headset which is only £15, but i felt it ... ...the previous ones.
It certainly has and i have now had this headset for about 6 months and have not had a single problem.
It is certain the perfect headset for both hardcore gamers and for just casual gamers.
Firstly, being not wired makes it far more practical as you can move more freely without being attached to the controller, and you can also walk away from the controller without suddenly having your head grabbed back by that really annoying ...

Advantages: Long Lasting, Small Disadvantages: Must Be Charged
Microsoft Official Xbox 360 Wireless Headset This Xbox 360 wireless headset is definitely a long lasting microphone, which is quite durable. One thing which I like about this headset is that its much more comfortable to wear compared to the original Xbox 360 Headset.
Another advantage about this headset is that its wireless so you don't need to bother with any wires. The only disadvantage about this product is that it has to be charged.
The battery ... ...it takes about 3 hours to charge fully.
You can use this wireless headset to listen and talk to your friend on Xbox Live.
I paid £35 for my wireless headset and it was well worth the money. I recommend this product to all potential buyers. ...

I bought my headset recently from ebay. I was looking forward to getting it because i haven't been able to speak to anyone on xbox live for ages. Since my days of Halo 2 on the original Xbox.
I knew that the old headsets were crap, flimsy, uncomfortable and generally, just bad and plasticky. So i was looking forward to a change with the new wireless headset for the 360.
Everything that i was looking forward to just didn't happen. The new headsets ... ...not so much now. And they do look more stylish than the older xbox version. They look and feel similar to bluetooth headsets that have emerged recently.
As for the fact that it is no more comfortable, if anything it is less comfortable. I hate wearing it, it just flops off my ear, makes it really hot, itch and make my whole gaming experience uncomfortable. Plus its a distraction, just dangling on the side of my cheek. Its annoying! There is just ...

Advantages: Great looks, handy charge cable included Disadvantages: Not great sound quality, no play and charge facility
The microsoft xbox 360 wirless headset is very attractive and fits the ear very well - at least it fits mine anyway. The headset isnt particularly good at picking up quiet speech though, which is often a let down during games that require alot of detailed communication for tactics such as Gears Of War 2 or Call Of Duty WAW. The headset is priced at £34.99 RRP, which i think is quite reasonable for what you're getting. The headset comes with full ... ...USB point. It cannot be used in a play-and-charge situation which gets annoying so you have to leave it overnight to charge. It is mcuh less cumbersom that the various wired headsets on the market and has a good range using the 360's infra red technology system. There is a small silver button on the side used to turn the headset on and off, one inside the mouthpiece which is used to syncronise it to your console, and also has 2 handy volume buttons ...

Advantages: light simple to use Disadvantages: does not hold charge well
as all you online gamers know the key to online succsess is communication and this ticks all the boxes its light weight fairly comfortable to wear and easy to charge. to be honest it is a far better cammunication device compared to its wired counterpart headset. it the mike is movable to a small degree. plus it has a long range of upto 30m it is easy to connect just like the controllers. however there are a few annoying points. it takes a while to ... ...is made in one size and one size only it does not allow for any adjustment. it takes a while to charge and often it does not have to hold the charge very well. it is also annoying that when you are done you have to turn it off yourself or it runs out of charge as it has no self turn off function. plus you cannot use it while it is chargin throught eh usb cable to your xbox.
so overall it is a product that if you are a serious online gamer then you ...
