For a super special birthday gift my parents decided not to get me a new computer, or even a shiny new laptop. No, they decided to get me a keyboard and mouse set. Great you might say. Not so if you don't have a computer, however fortunately I do so it wasn't a disapointment when I opened the box. At first I thought 'thanks.....' but when I read the box I got really excited.
In the package you get, all wrapped up in clear plastic and white packing foam, one very posh looking black Microsoft wireless optical desktop elite keyboard , and one optical wireless mouse to go with it. The mouse features a scrolling tool which is fantastic as allows me to scan down pages on the web super fast - and is a neat feature my previous plug in mouse lacked.
The keyboard itself is black with big raised chunky keys, i.e. not flat like the laptop ones and is surrounded by a thick plastic boarder which makes it quite large and as it's supposed to be wireless and convient for easy away from computer use. The fazct that they put so much bulky plastic around it makes it slightly inconvient and pointless for it to be wireless. However it doesn't bother me much as I do most of my typing sitting upright on my desk. The keyboard is about 50 cm long by x 25cm wide and 4cm deep when stood upright on its feet.
The wonders of modern technology have helped to develop this top of the range keyboard which works via bluetooth to allow wireless use. It's also USB compatible so I can use my memory stick, floppy drive, plug into printer etc, and also has PS2 and inbuilt wireless receiver.
Another inconvient truth about this little gadget is that it requires batteries, it would be more convient if it have an internal one which you recharged but it doesn't. I have to keep buying batteries, or use my rechargable ones. It requires 5 AA batteries and need changing about once every month which isnt ba, but i do find the disposable ones last longer i.e. Duracell rather than uniross recharageables.
The keyboard and mouse are synched so you can't use one without the other and requires Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional , Microsoft Windows XP, Apple MacOS X 10.1.x - 10.3.x computer compatibility.
What I love the most about my keyboard is not only is it stylish, although quite buly and heavy, it's features a comfty cushoined palm rest so i can type all night on my disertation and not have aching hands. It also has the wheel mouse feature i mentioned earlier, customizable buttons, an enhanced F Key functionality for easy shift keyboard functioning, and some cool shortcut bottons including; Sleep, internet browsing, multimedia, log off, scrolling, programmable, my Pictures, My Music, my Documents, calculator, e-mail, and volume control - all at you finger tips and the tap of one of the buttons on the top bar.
Overall a rating of 4 stars I am awarding. Very nearly a 5 star rating. I am really impressed and adore my birthday gift. I makes any computer work and even writing this review a pleasure and easy task. Highly recommended product, however I have to warn it's a bit pricey especially for something so bulky. I know there are a few slimline and lighter ones than this now avalible on the market and for about the same sort of money, these may be better suited to you if you want to do more wireless work from a distance to your computer.
Whatever you're preference I know I love my keyboard and especially the scroll function on the mouse. I really don't know what I did without it. Thanks for reading, take care, best wishes, mintz x x x

Advantages: Packed with extra features while still no bigger than a normal keyboard Disadvantages: Right-handed only mouse
This is an excellent desktop set by Microsoft. For your money you receive both keyboard and opticalmouse with wireless operation and also features such as media controls, a wheel on the keyboard for easy browsing and a right-left scroll on the mouse.
I'll start with the mouse. It is a nice chunky design, which feels nice and solid with a rubber-feel thumb rest. There are the standard two buttons on top, with a smooth wheel in between (no 'clicks' like normal mice), which also has a left-right motion for scrolling across the page. The smooth action of the wheel is slighty confusing at first, but I found it a great improvement, when scrolling through large documents at speed you don't need to feel the constant resistance and annoying sound that the conventional mouse would give you.
You have two extra thumb buttons, which are set to ...
