MS SideWinder Gamepad Pro

Advantages: you can reach all the buttons easily
Disadvantages: looks a bit basic

I bought this game pad a while back to play PC games and i still use it now. there are 9 buttons on it which is plenty for most games, and there is also a D-pad for movement during games. The 9 buttons are all very easy to reach, there are 6 all clustered together on the right hand side of the pad which can all be reached by the right thumb. there is one under the d-pad on the left hand side which normally acts as a menu button, or pause etc. there are also two buttons on the back on the pad, which can easily be pressed using your index fingers. these buttons are located at the left and right side of the bad, at the top. The pad works well for most games, and it is definatly better than using the keyboard. but for some games, the pad doesnt have anywhere near enough buttons. but it is good for adventure games or beat ...

Game Over for the opposition (Microsoft Sidewinder Gamepad)

Advantages: Reliable, comfortable to use
Disadvantages: Many PCs no longer come iwth a Gameport. Gameport not recognised by Vista

Firstly I must say that I am not a Microsoft fan. This game pad came with my first PC which I purchased in 1999. It is still going today and is still the only gamepad I own. If it broke, I would look to buy another one. This pad is great. Lets start with the looks. This pad is a big, chucnky black affair with dark grey buttons (6 on the right, 2 triggers, 1 centre button and a start and select button sunken centrally) and a round with raised cross D-pad. It comes with a wire of approx 1.25 meters length which is long enough top reach around the back of your PC and still give you some slac k to play with. Software. The MS software that comes with this pad lets you set up custom profiles for individual games which means that the pad will know what buttons to assign to what commands - a really useful time saving feature ...

Microsoft SideWinder Precession 2 I had just got Microsoft’s Combat Flight Simulator 2 and wanted a joystick to control my aircraft with.
