Now i have a pathological hatred of all things Microsoft. Just ask anyone who is in the middle of writing up a thesis what they think about Microsoft Word, but be prepared for a mountan of venom to be spat out at you, better still call in a UN peace keeping force to take the flak for you, their blue helmets make for good target practice.
So with my pathological hatred of microsoft in mind I got one of these beasties for 9 quid. It comes with either a PS2 or USB port, but since USB is for fun things like MP3 players and digital cameras I got the PS2 version. I plugged it in and Windows 2000 automatically detected it and there was no need for any additional driver disks, so that is a bonus.
The mouse is an optical mouse which means that there is no track ball which will need to be regulary cleaned out another plus. And it has nice red light thingys as well.
Onto using the mouse and it has a wheel thingy in between the two buttons. This is the first mouse I have had that has one of these things, and in my opinion it is simply the best invention ever (next to 24 hour garages and cash back in pubs). No longer do I have to use scroll bars all you so is run it up or down and you scroll up and down webpages and documents with effortless ease.
Also with Photoshop (and other lesser immaging software) you can use the wheel thingy to zoom in an out, though it can make you feel sick after a while. Now doctoring images with photoshop is a hobby of mine (sad but it is better than trainspotting any day) and selecting areas on the screen for insertion into other images is terribly easy and the mouse is really responsive which has icreased my enjoyment of photoshop endlessley though this is not nesesarally a good and constructive thing to do with your spare time. as can be clearly seen from the photograph (Dimitri the ballon Tiger Makes a Pizza)
It also has a thing called intelli-point wher the cursor will atomatically go to buttons on a web page, this is more of a nusance than anything else and I like most users I know switch it off.
I am well impressed with this mose and the main thing I think that it has going for it is wheel, however this leaves me with aproblem in that the mouse on my PC at home dosn't have one and it is really frustrating using it.

Long live the wheely thing! (I now hate non-wheely mouses / mice / mouse peripherals) Great review, absolutely nothing else I could possibly need to know.
