I always believed that most mice were much the same. However about a year ago I started using a mouse like this at work. After using it for 8 hours a day 5 days a week I decided that this was the best mouse I've ever used.
It looks good, the buttons click affirmatively and the scroll wheel is smooth and doesn't resist scrolling like some cheaper scroll mice are prone to.
I liked this mouse so much I convinced a friend to buy one the same and I think he is happy with it. However what I noticed was that the light on the back, which is not visible in a bright office environment or to the user of the mouse when your hand covers it , is very bright in a dark room, perhaps if you're watching DVDs on your computer. We found that we'd have to get up and turn the mouse round or we'd be blinded by the bright red light.
For this reason I would not reccomend this mouse to a bedroom computer user orto someone who uses their computer alot for watching videos I would suggest instead you opt for the Microsoft Basic Optical mouse, which as far as I can tell is almost exactly the same but doesn't have the light visible from the back of the mouse.
