Windows 7 has been said by Microsoft as being much improved and everyone would be happy with the end result. But is it really better, below is my review of a few sections which I believe is most important and compare it to older versions.
Speed: 9/10
Much faster than Vista. To compare with the Vista OS, on Vista it took around 30 secs to 45 secs to boot up and log me in. Now on Windows 7 it takes 20 - 30 secs to boot up. Shut down is also so much faster. Vista = 15 secs... Windows 7 = 5 secs..... So there is a huge improvement. Also when running programs or browsing the internet you feel like this Operating System is very smooth and just does what you want (most of the time)
Program Compatablilty: 8/10
Most Programs that run on Vista will run on Windows 7 (32-bit) very well. Though (64-bit) has a few problems such as many drivers which had worked on Vista 64 don't work now, but this should hopefully be resolved within the next month.
Ease of Use: 9/10
It is very easy to understand, though does take a little adjusting. Especially if you've just come from XP to use 7. Many of the features are hard to understand how they work. But you'd proberbly understand in no tie if your a fast learner.
How much better is it from XP or Vista: 4/10
Really, there isn't too much of a difference just a lot of extra features. The main fact people want ot have this OS is that it is super quick on loading anything.
Requirments to Run: 8/10
Any decent computer should be able to run Windows 7 though older PC's may struggle. Below are the list of requirements to run Windows 7:
1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
Price for the OS: 2/10
I'm very suprised on how much they're charging for this. In my Country (UK) a single 1 use lisence can be found form around £63 for the upgrade pack. Because Vista was so shoddy I was hoping for 7 to be around £20-30 for an upgrade from Vista. I was a little dissapointed.
Overall: 6/10
Many things have improved but all it is is a lot faster and a lot more managable than XP and vista. It's alot of money and I don't think it's worth it. Though if you think you want to be modern, up to date and have a fast smooth OS for once I guess is buy it. It's much better than XP and Vista.
*Tip for buying Windows 7:
If you have a Son/Daughter over 14, you may be able to buy the student edition which goes for around £50 giving you a huge saving of £110 of that Edition (Windows 7 Ultimate). Though you can only buy one per student. Plus, a portion of the money can go towards the school your child is at.
Don't go pretending that your a student though, these sites do checks to see if this person acturlly exsists and have that same records as you.
Hope I helped you a little in your way in deciding whether you want to buy Windows 7 or not.
Thank You for Reading.

Advantages: Works well. robust and resilient, user friendly. Disadvantages: The upgrade took time and needs to be left alone to do its job. Do not interrupt!
