I'm no expert but I have read that there are still quite a number of bugs in the vista system I have saw a few of them and if you wait until they have all off the bugs worked out it would be better and cheaper.
Look around there are some free operating systems and you would be surprised at their quality.
If you look closely it looks a bit like another operating system a Mac a Mac is not a Macdonald's meal it is a computer apple or mackintosh. So if am not saying a Macdonald's meal is an operating system.
It has a desktop that looks nice that was all I needed to hear to make my mind up. Being a person who knows about computers and tries to keep up with the new things I knew that this would work well and I'm not saying it doesn't.
Now with my windows vista ultimate edition bought the first thing I did was brake the packaging trying to open it up. I went to the bother of upgrading my computers ram (random access memory) "that thing that makes the computer run faster" after I read the minimum requirements on the side of the box and looked up what ram was.
I completed some spring cleaning for my hard drive threw away the instruction manual because I don't need a piece of paper telling me what to do. Then I took out the rare vista disk or project longhorn that was vista code name.
Then to my surprise it worked it installed easily don't you just know I'm lying nothing like this is ever easy. I won't go into detail but after getting the instruction manual out of the paper shredder and using a roll of industrial sellotape I found the problem.
I had it installed worked fine since most of the parts in my computer were designed for vista. To my horror I realized that my "talktalk" modem had no drivers written to run off vista. So if you are thinking about buying and vista Operating system make sure that you find out that all of your computer components will work with vista check websites to see if there are driver updates. Drivers are like electronic instructions for computer parts
Also make sure that you have your computer up to at least the minimum requirements which are as follows i understand them don't you.
1 G Hz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor 1 GB of system memory 40 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space Support for DirectX 9 graphics with: o WDDM Driver o 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum) o Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware o 32 bits per pixel DVD-ROM drive Audio Output Internet access (fees may apply)
Note I have copied and pasted this from Microsoft since I can't seem to find my vista box if its confusing take it up with Microsoft not me
Don't forget these are minimum requirements there are another set of "recommended requirements." They are supposed to be what you should really have if you want to have vista ultimate. My computer runs great with vista and if you buy a copy hopefully yours will to but don't forget there are still bugs and missing drivers.
Now I'm off to find my £130 DVD for when the computer breaks down not if because I know it will but I will be prepared I will not need the repair man this time. I will do it for myself because I spent all my money on getting the computer built and now can't afford to have it fixed by anther person.

Don't think it would be any good for me, never read an instruction manual in my life, very helpful review

Good review, don't know how much Vista would cost, have not even bothered looking into it for the reasons you mention, its new, its microsoft, and it'll have bugs/gaps etc. Good read though, manda.x
Advantages: Enhanced security, parental controls, simplified configuration, new look, reliable. Disadvantages: Not suitable unless your PC is fairly new.
