Microsoft have kindly included their own web browser, Internet Explorer (IE), which I use as little as possible along with an e-mail program, Outlook Express. I use Outlook, for the simple reason that it's what I'm used to, but only use IE if a particular site demands it.

...layout of the control panel Microsoft have made it easy enough to convert back by the cick of the button called "switch to classic view" I personally prefer the new layout. Microsoft have also made changes to the use of the CTRL + ALT + DEL key combination. Before, in Me and so on, this key combination just got you out of the program you were in, and two of these restarted the Pc. Not very useful. In the new edition they have made this more useful. ... ...this before.
finally, Microsoft have added a Help centre program that allows users to search a database of FAQ's that microsof t thinks may cause users problems and seek help from this. This isn't exceptionally useful in most cases and looking for a tech support forum is probably a better bet, if every thing is going wrong.
So in conclusion., I would reccomend Windows Xp to most users of PC's who want basic use to people who want more advanced ...

In support of Microsoft however I am sure that other operating systems (such as Linux) have security flaws in them as well and if they became as widely used as Windows is now then they would have hackers targeting them as well.
A lot of the security issues were fixed with the release of Service Pack 2. This was a cumulative rollup of other security fixes plus a new security centre supplied by Microsoft. This new security centre provided an ... ...Windows XP.
Nannying

Microsoft in general is getting worse and worse for insisting on hand-holding for every aspect of using the computer. Yes, programs are hard to fathom sometimes but it doesn’t mean we want some stupid dog telling us what to do and asking inane questions about what we are doing. Windows XP is not too bad on this score. The nanny options are there, but they can easily be disabled.

...###The history of Windows###
Microsoft started to make 'Interface Manager' way back in '81, it was later renamed to 'Microsoft Windows'. It wasn't a pretty sight when released in 1985, and not much software was available. It was text/DOS based and the only feature that is the same is where the menu is. No start menu though.
As this didn't sell well Microsoft created a slightly different version of Windows: Windows/286. The colours remind me of ... ...activition. You have to contact Microsoft before 30days of WINXP use to activiate it. Naturally, you can do this via phone of through the internet. If you don't have the internet you can get MSN. Oh joy(joking). Microsoft say this is to get rid of piracy, but in my view it just the chance of getting you to sign-up for MSN.
@Windows Media Player. I hate this media player. it's too big and it's irritating. I would prefer the use of iTunes or Winamp.

...or a very limited time, Microsoft seem to have always had the problem of bringing out software before it was due. Example of this can be seen everywhere, and not just with the Operating Systems, in software as well, they always seem to leave programs half finished and add little bits and bobs back into them whenever the mood takes them. It is with this in mind that we see the complete necessity for service packs, they are basically updates en mass. ... ...to be experts, luckily again, Microsoft have thought ahead and allowed the user to revert to how Windows 98 looked and acted, which I find a real plus. It is important to note, that although windows is by no means the best operating system out there, it is the most popular, and this is important, as everything is made to work on windows, this adds alot to the functionality of the operating system as a whole.
