Microsoft may dominate the computer software and operating system market, but throughout my working life I have been used to working with Logitech and Hewlett Packard so when the opportunity came to change my mouse I happily opted for a wireless optical mouse supplied by Microsoft and costing only £20 for the entire package, including 4 sets of AA batteries.

Pentium 233 MHz or higher processor
128MB RAM
60MB hard disk space
An available USB port

With these minimum requirements in mind, the mouse comes with a medium sized receiver which plugs directly into the USB port, while the software drivers are installed using the CD and CD-ROM drive requiring 60MB of space, 100MB if you decide to go ahead with a full installation.

As I am left handed and my wife right handed this mouse is ideal as it can be used by both of us, unlike our old mouse which was a complete nightmare for me to use. If anything, this mouse suits a left handed person more as the page forward and backward buttons are located to the left hand side of the left main mouse button. Using these is very easy as they are very sensitive and only need nothing more than a gentle amount of pressure. The two main buttons located either side of the zoom wheel are really large and as far as using each of the 5 buttons go, it couldn't feel more comfortable if coated in silk.
To track the mouse uses a pretty funky red beam, I'm not sure if it's infra red or a laser but precision wise, it is so responsive and never seems to lose position needlessly. The receiver is place below our computer desk a good 3 feet away from the position of the mouse and there is no loss of responsiveness.
My only real gripe is the battery usage, I can see why they packed so many sets of batteries witht he mouse, it drinks the power and does so really fast. On average, using the mouse for 2-3 hours day, 7 days a week the batteries last for a week before the performance starts to lag. I would recommend this as a mouse to anyone considering buying it because of the comfort factor and price, but would also suggest any potential buyer makes an additional purchase of a good set of quality rechargeable batteries.

Review of Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 5000 - mouse
Advantages: Good build quality Disadvantages: can't think of any
...go...
In my experience Microsoft make the best mice, others may claim that Logitech make the best mice, but I myself like Microsoft. They always seem really solidly built which is important for me as I tend to eat through computer equipment as I over work it very regularly. This particular mouse is solidly built and has so far survived my harsh habits. There are two types available the first being bluetooth and the second being standard high frequency ... ...windows PC. I would advise anyone whose using windows to go for the radio version since windows is very bad with bluetooth. If your using a Mac then go bluetooth, with a Mac you just put the mouse down next to it and it works, no fuss, no hassle. Sadly windows just isn't that good.
The mouse is available in so many colours its edging on the silly. You can get various types of blue, red, orange, green all with varied patterns and so on. I went for ...

Advantages: Sleek design, long bttery life, excellent tracking, low cost Disadvantages: Not particulary suitable for dedicated gaming
Optical and wired mice are thing of the past now. Enter the wirelessmice with Microsoft leading the display. The Microsoft Laser Wirelessmouse5000 0004Model is a perfect blend of style, comfort and quality tracking.
Well placed rubber grips and symmetrical design enables it to be used by either hand. Easy to set up and use and a light blue light when active gives an ambient look. It has an impressive range and can easily follow orders up to 25 feet away. The wheel is smooth and it has an auatomatic power save mode where it turns off after being inactive.
The mouse itself works on a newer blue track beam which offers fine and smooth control which surpasses most mice. Add a 3 year hardware warrenty as well as an estimated 8 months battery life and you got yourself a bargain of a product.

Advantages: Sleek design, very accurate, easy to use, Disadvantages: easy to press side buttons by mistake
I recently aquired my new Microsoft5000Wireless Laser Mouse from the Euroffice website as my previous was a wired opticalmouse which was causing me distress as it had a mind of it's own and the buttons were dodgy.
I payed £20 including VAT as I had a 20% first order discount from the website but they normally retail at £23-28 depending on where you go.
So onto the actual review of the mouse itself....
The Design
A very slick design I must say and ergonomically friendly to both right and left handed people (I'm slightly ambidextrous so I tested it!)
The colour is nice which is a black rough plasic round the sides for good grip and smooth grey plastic on the top where the buttons are and where your palm would sit.
All in all it is very comfortable to hold and use and I'm very happy with it.
The mouse itself is ...
