Advantages: Arguably the best selection of games of any current console. Great HD graphics. Disadvantages: Hardware may still be somewhat unreliable. Lacks innovations specific to the Wii and PS3.

The range currently contains the minimal Arcade model, the Pro with a hard drive, and the top of the line Elite, with a bundle of extras.
At the heart of the Xbox 360 is a powerful 3.2GHz triple core Xenon processor. This might not mean much to everyone, but it's a serious CPU that was easily the equal of most desktop PCs at the time the console was launched and still holds its own against more recent developments. It's more powerful by a factor of twelve than the CPU in the Wii and, although the Cell processor in the PS3 is theoretically more powerful still, the relatively conventional architecture means that the 360 often manages to outperform Sony's machine. This is backed up by the powerful 500MHz Xenos GPU which drives detailed graphics in high definition with ease; most 360 games run at a native resolution of 720p or better. In layman's terms this means that 360 games are generally faster, smoother and more detailed than those on other consoles.
Speaking of games, without which a console is nothing, the 360 boasts the largest range of games of any of the current generation with over 500 titles. As well as quantity, there's quality too. Don't just take my word for it; as of writing, the review compiling site Metacritic lists 21 games for the 360 with a 90% rating or above; the PS3 has a mere 12 and the Wii just 8. Some of the best exclusive games for the 360 include Gears of War 1 & 2, Halo 3, Braid and Forza Motorsport 2. It's also got the best versions of some cross-platform titles like The Orange Box, Burn Out Paradise, Grand Theft Auto IV and Bioshock; the latter three are pretty good on the PS3 too, but the 360 still boasts unique content.
Of course, the Wii and the PS3 have their own selling points too; the former is worth a look for it's innovative controller and some great Nintendo exclusives, and the latter's built in Blu-Ray player is great for watching films on HDTV and it now has some decent exclusives in the likes of Little Big Planet and Killzone 2. However, the 360 remains the machine of choice for the hardcore console gamer in traditional genres like first person shooters, motor racing and role playing games.
The 360 also offers a superior online experience to other consoles with Xbox live. Membership comes in two levels; silver, which is free, allows you access to voice chat avatars and downloadable content. Gold membership, priced at £34.99, annually is require for multiplayer gaming though, but it's an investment worth making because as well as merely playing the games, you can take part in tournaments, get ranked, make friends and even video chat with them if you get a camera. Another nice feature is the Xbox live arcade that lets you download souped up versions of old classics like Joust, Jetpac and Missile Command as well as innovative new games such as Geometry Wars 2 and Hexic 2. One slight annoyance is that the 360 doesn't have a wireless connection as standard and ideally needs to be wired directly into your router; if this is inconvenient you've got to pay extra for a wireless adapter.
Anyway, on to the specifics of the Elite; this latest version of the top of the line model boasts a 120GB Hard drive and a stylish matt black finish that also extends to the controllers and the headset. The hard drive is important as it's utilized extensively in online play, and can store downloadable content; with the possibility of being able to download full games to your machine coming soon, this larger disk than on the pro model could prove very useful. It's also the only version of the console that comes HD ready out of the box, including the HDMI cable. All These features, except of course for the colour unless you're a dab hand at spraypainting, can be added to the lower models in the range - the pro and arcade - but at a price. As such, if you've got a HD TV - especially one with a black finish - and a penchant for online gaming, you'd be doing yourself a big favour to buy this straight away.
One of the bugbears of the 360 has been its reputation for unreliability. The early models had something of a tendency to overheat if left on for a long time, especially if put in a confined space without adequate ventilation, leading to the notorious "red ring of death". Thanks to revisions to the hardware, however, this is largely something of the past and is unlikely to occur with current models. However, the machine still has something of a reputation for scratched disks, jammed disk trays and occasional other faults. As such, I'd still recommend handling it with care, although it's no longer quite as fragile a machine as its reputation might have you believe.
Overall, I'd recommend the machine highly. With the console market being split three ways at the moment, it's also worth considering the Wii and the PS3 though and, if you can afford it, there's a good argument for getting all three of them as they've got different strengths. As a pure games machine with HD graphics in traditional console genres though, the 360 still stands clear of the others.
Advantages: Enjoyable high quality gameplay Disadvantages: A bit noisy (the fans that is)
Yet another house move meant that I needed some careful rewarding, the choice of my reward was a toss up between the PS3 or the Xbox 360 Elite. After a bit of careful deliberation and a look at the range of games available the Xbox 360 won the day. I ordered mine from Littlewoods at the rather high price of £299, but at the time of purchase this was the only place that had them in stock, and delivery was the very next day.
Now I have no real knowledge ... ...certain degree some of the issues I'll bring up are basically hearsay, but not hearsay I have heard from random website this comes from friends.
The Xbox 360 Elite comes in a clean black finish, it seems black is the new silver when it comes to electrical. No sooner have we all converted our TV's, etc to the silver finish and its time to turn back again. Luckily the other series of reward toys I gave myself also came in black (but that's another ...

...market, and certainly the best Microsoft has to offer. The games run smoothly and you really do have alot of storage space. So if you are after really good console with all the works and price is not an issue, then this would naturally be a good choice. Moreover, I would recommend the subscriptions to enjoy the true potential.
But remember, if you don't have 1080p full HD, NOT HD ready or 1080i TV, then you will not necessarily the best this machine ... ...provides great value for money as a package.
All in all, this console is on the high end of the market. It looks good and presents itself well. Recommendation is based on the above points if the potential buyer prefers the qualities of the product. If large drives, smooth graphics and HD are your thing, then this is an ideal buy. ...

...as they are licensed by Microsoft and not some random companies idea put into practice without testing.
When you get the box everything is nicely packed in little bags and boxes making it easy to figure out what it all does, the HDMI cable is the best thing in the world not just for the video quality but for the fact it is simply plug one cable in and you are off! The power supply is quite large but as with all power supplies they are hidden away ... ...cable and cd supplied by microsoft by request. This takes forever to arrive though and I found it easier to buy on ebay and sell it straight on again after using it.
It also has a new chip design that avoids the red ring of death the previous xboxs could suffer from and looks so much cooler in black than white. I have had no issues with mine at all since buying it and am truly impressed. The are loads of exclusive games for it like Halo 3 and it ...

Advantages: Huge hard drive Disadvantages: Large price!
Welcome to the mother of all games consoles... the Xbox 360 Elite.
With a massive 120Gb harddrive I can store all the videos, demos and game saves that my heart desires. So far I have only filled up 80Gb!
The console comes in a sleek black finish and looks great next to my new widescreen TV, everyone notices it when they come round and they always say how nice it looks 'for a games console'.
The chrome disk tray really stands out against the black ... ...games to choose from theres something for everyone, with exclusive titles such as Halo everyone should own one.
Now the console does have its drawbacks, all 360's are prone to getting the RROD (red rings of death), this is an overheating problem which results in the 360 becoming unplayable; I would recommend positioning the console horizontally to allow the fans to take in as much air as possible.
But luckily there is a three year warranty with ...

Advantages: Better Design, Quieter fan, Bigger harddrive, Music and video storage Disadvantages: Higher price, Xbox live cost, accesories costly
Well i Started with the "Xbox 360 Original", For the time i have owned it there has been no problems. When the Elite came out my Dad Purcheshed the Xbox Elite, for the first couple months it ran great. The Elites fan was much more quiet compared to my normal 360 . A reason for the Xbox 360 Elite was to stop alot of hardware errors. W After an regular use of the 360 Elite my Dads got the 3 red lights, but xbox have atleast a year warranty. but this ...

Never go into Tescos at two in the morning drunk, guarantied you will come out with a much lighter purse....
*Choosing a game machine*
This wasn't really hard to decide since i have all the ones out apart from the xbox360 and Ps3. I picked xbox because it had more games in the shop i wanted to play :-).There are 2 different versions of the xbox360 out - one with 20gb memory or one with 120gb memory-for just a little bit more money you got a lot of extra memory. Also the elite is a lot nicer to look at (goes with my tv) and has less problems with overheating.
*What you can do*
You can play xbox360 game, dvd movies and audio cds.Internet access is also available and you can play online with your friends.
*Setting it up and using it*
Very easy to do-just follow the instructions ...
Advantages: Graphics, Playability, Addictiveness, range of games and XBOX LIVE. Disadvantages: Red lights are way too common.
the 'Premium'. This console looks identical to it's younger brother, but boasts an impressive 20GB worth of space, capable or storing hundreds of songs, many videos and countless saved games... Finally a hard-core hard-drive was born through the ashes of the core!
Next in the ever-brightening collection rose the 'Arcade'. This console is a cheap alternative which is capable of playing all of the more impressive 360 games... This console focuses on the many thousands of arcade type games available today. There fun, but I would still recomend the Premium deal for its large hard-drive.
Finally, after a few years of constant enhancement to their already powerful Xbox360 Premium, Microsoft created the 'Elite'.
Indeed this newer, more powerful, death-black console is truely an awesome buy! It contains a 120GB hard-drive for christ sake ...
Advantages: PS3 is more cost effective Disadvantages: PS3 has less games at present, but this will change
Ok the playstation 3 is expensive weighing in at £425 however if you compare just the Basic Hardware with say XBox360, you will be surprised how cost effective it is.
For example the XBox360 Premium console, has 20 GB hard drive, headset, wireless controller, AV cable.
And costs around £279, if you can wait until 24th August 07 Microsoft have planned to release the Xbox360Elite
The Xbox360Elite is an All new Super Sexy Black, with 120GB Harddrive and a HDMI output + HDMI lead all for an estimated price of £320.
However there are some bits missing from the XBox360:
If you want to connect wyour Xbox360 wirelessly to the internet your going to need the official 'Wireless Bridge" this will set you back around £60.
The PS3 has built in wireless capabilities, and is enabled from the PS 3 Menu
The Xbox360 & PS3 ...
