Quite possibly the best purchase I've done this year.
I'm pretty new to the Xbox world, and got this as all my mates at work would rave on about it all the time, so I dived in and used up all my savings and got one.
Games can be quite pricey, but I've found that buying them off friendly auction sites, can save a hell of a lot of money.
Setting up was a doddle, I'm pretty good with computers/electrical stuff, but I'm quite sure anyone could manage it with or without the instructions.
I had a few problems with Xbox live, but that was just myself, as I'd already registered online at their website and used my email address with a different gamertag to the one when I originally setup my Xbox, but Xbox sorted this out for me after a phone call to their UK support centre (numbers on their website).
Since I've had the Xbox I've brought a few more extra games, and other accessories that you can get from all over - all of which worked fine and had no problems.
One thing I have noticed, is the game choice for women - not a lot of choice in my own opinion - I've emailed Xbox on this, so hopefully in time there will be a few more girlie games come out (to keep the Mrs happy).
Totally reccommend everyone to get one, loads of fun can be had, either just on your own or hooked up to the Internet on Xbox Live (addition cost - but only £34.99 for a full years subscription).

(+) Plenty of storage space, for media. Good Games, Great for partys, with singstar. Very Reliable. (-) Sometimes the optical drive, breaks; but not very likely, my 60gb still working after 2 1/2 years.

Advantages: Huge selection of Exclusives unavalible of other consoles and Xbox Live Disadvantages: The dreaded read ring of death, paying for Xbox live
Advantages: Faster, Larger Memory, More Games, Fantastic Online System, Looks Stunning Disadvantages: Slightly noisy when watching a dvd, will asorb you into a long life of gaming.
