I bought my Elite for around £300 around 2 years ago from the Game store in Nottingham. It came with one game and seemed very reasonably priced compared to the premium console as it was only around £50 more and included a 120GB hard-drive!! which is massive, and would set you back atleast £60 but at the time even £120 to buy seperately. Plus at the time this was the only xbox to have HDMi for easy connection to a HD TV through one small cable.
I understand that alot of people may love the PS3, and thats ok if you can settle for an inferior console, I just want to warn any PS3 fanboys (or fangirls) you should look away now :P
There are so many great things about the xbox 360 Elite. First of all I think it is the nicest looking console ever (smaller and more colourfull lights then the PS3 :)
Apart from the classics of the Super Nintendo and the 1st Playstation, I have been an Xbox fan all my life :). I have always found the games to be much better and play better and ofcourse, have way better controllers.
The menu's and interface of the 360 are very good, customisable, colourfull and simple to use, you couldn't ask for more! (They even make very satisfying sounds as you flick the different slides!). If you have a favourite game or movie you can get themes to customise your xbox with, or even if you have your own pictures you can set them as a background.
The games on the 360 are the greatest thing about it (obviously). The sheer number of great games out there now is good enough reason to buy it, but not only that. Many of the gratest games ever are 'Xbox 360 Exclusives'! including Halo3 Gears of War, Fable 2(when it's out) and many more. This is simply the reason why I never even considered the PS3 when I was choosing my next-gen console, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing that I would never get to play such games as Halo3 or Fable.
The xbox live marketrplace is a great feature, it alows you to download themes, demos movie trailers, game trailers and even whole movies. Ofcourse some of this will come at a cost, which in most cases is a complete rip off if you are only buying things such as gamer pictures.
This is the only real problem with the xbox 360, the price of the accesories :S. As with many things, microsoft liek to charge excessive prices for simple accesories and force you to buy their £60 versions by mnaking the cheaper ones not work.
Aside from the accesory prices though The xbox 360 Elite is the greatest console out and I highly reccomend it, o and I forgot to mention it has the greatest online experiance of any of the consoles as it is faster and easier to connect with freinds. (downside again is the price)
Xbox 360's can be purchased from almost anywhere and they are quite cheap nowdays so if you havn't already, it is well worth buying one, great fun for all the family! and for the serious gamers :)
