Microsoft Xbox 360 Elite

The Xbox 360 Elite was released by Microsoft soon after the Playstation 3 was released by Sony so I'm guessing Microsoft was getting a bit scared that people would go off and buy a Playstation 3 and tried bringing the new Xbox 360 out so everyone would go buy one instead of the Playstation 3 and in my opinion i think the Xbox 360 Elite is the better option. With the previous Xbox 360 selling so many was there any need for the Xbox 360 Elite? well in my opinion no not really but however Microsoft did add some bits to this new edition of the Xbox 360 console.

The Xbox 360 Elite is a completely different colour to the previous Xbox 360 consoles because they went from a white normal Xbox 360 to a black Xbox 360 Elite. There isn't much difference between these two consoles the only things different is there's a 120gb hard drive that comes with all Xbox 360 Elites which is six times as big as the very first Xbox 360 console. The only other new add on is the HDMI output for easier and a lot better quality connection to HD ready TV's.

Except for the color and the HDMI port the Xbox 360 Elite is identically the same as the Xbox 360 Premium console. However the Xbox 360 Elite's matte black color is a million times better than the shinny gloss black look the Playstation 3 has because unlike the Playstation 3 you cant get finger print marks on it, with the Playstation 3 your constantly trying to get rid of the prints rather than playing the games.

At the back of the new Xbox 360 Elite console there is a HDMI port, an AV connector, one USB port and there is an Ethernet port.

The previous Xbox 360 couldn't support Wi-Fi like the Playstation 3 or the Wii and with this new Xbox 360 Elite I was expecting Wi-Fi but guess what? still none but never the less its still a fabulous console. However you can still get the optional wireless network adaptor but it does take the only USB slot on the back of your Xbox 360 console and does cost round about and extra £55 but it can be worth it.

The Xbox 360 Elite's hard drive is located in the detachable base of the Xbox that snaps onto the side of the console. With the old Xbox 360 20gb console all you would need to do is go on Xbox live download a few things like game demo's, movie trailers, a few extra game levels and multiplayer maps and that would be the 20gb hard drive just about full. However with the new Xbox 360 Elite 120gb hard drive it will last almost a lifetime and it comes out in the perfect time as now on Xbox live you can download more things like full Xbox original classic games and full movies and TV shows so its come at the right time.

The wireless controllers however are no different to the controllers that were released with the Xbox 360 Premium consoles except for the black color. There isn't any new functions on these controllers. However they do take two AA batteries or you can buy a play and charge kit which comes with a rechargeable battery and you can either charge over night or in the day or you can just have the wire in and charge whilst your playing it.

The Xbox 360 Elite has basically the same insides as the previous Xbox 360 consoles.

This Xbox 360 in my opinion is the best Xbox Microsoft has made with its stunning graphics and fast paced loading. There are endless possibilities with this console and one of the main things is Xbox live. There is a subscription you have to pay for to get either 3 months, 6 months or a whole years gold membership. There is a one months free Xbox live trial that comes with every console but i gaurentee you if you use that months trial you will be running to the shop the next day to buy a years membership. With this Xbox 360 Elite just like the other Xbox's you can store all your music on the hard drive or you can even copy games on the hard drive. On live there is so much downloadable stuff it will keep you going for days. There are a few bad points however about this Xbox 360 Elite which are things like it looks the same as the older versions and there is no difference in terms of sound, graphics and textures. All the games run rather smoothly on the Xbox 360 Elite and i would recomend this to anyone of any ages. The manual you receive with the Xbox 360 Elite is rather complex for younger people and I would advise that the adults read and help them understand.

All in all this Xbox 360 Elite was released to send Sony and Nintendo a warning and make them scared and Microsoft say they don't make money on every Xbox 360 Elite sold and they actually lose money, now i don't know if i believe that but thats what they say. I have to say they have really impressed me although be warned the RROD (red ring of death) still has not been sorted and you can still get it on the Xbox 360 Elite but if you get it ring Microsoft and tell them they will get someone to pick it up and if they cant repair it they will send you a brand new Xbox 360 Elite free of charge.
