This controller performs no differently to any other of the xbox 360 wireless controllers. The only difference is the fact that it has a limited edition halo 3 look to it. If anything, my personal controller performs slightly worse than any other of the controllers. I will go into detail later in the review.
*****Appearance*****
The controller sports a very stylish bright blue design. On the left hand side there is the face of what looks to me like one of the Prophets, who feature in the Halo 2 and Halo 3 plots. The prophets are one of the integral characters in the game, as well as important members of the covenant invasion force of Earth. The right hand side of the controller features a Wraith. The heavy armour tanks used by the Covanent forces. This image goes well with the bright blue base colour, as it is slightly darker, therefore blending in, whilst still standing out enough to be noticable. This design, overall, is very striking and looks very good. In my opinion, a lot better than the Spartan version that my brother owns.
The controller has the standard buttons for an xbox360 controller. Left Analogue Stick. Left Bumper. Left Trigger. D-Pad. Back. Xbox Button. Start. Right Analogue Stick. X. A. Y. B. Right Bumper/ Right Trigger.
*****Performance*****
As previously stated, this controller performs the same as other xbox360 controllers. None of the buttons stick, and the analogue sticks rotate smoothly for easy and effective gameplay. The most important factor in controllers. However, i do have one complaint. When repeatedly tapping the Right Trigger button, it squeaks quite loudly. As is it needs some WD40. This is not a problem when playing racing or sports games generally. However, when playing shooting games, the trigger button comes into play more and the noise can be quite grounding and gets on my nerves slightly. This does not occur on any of the other 4 controllers i own. I am not sure if this happens on all the limited edition covenant controllers, however, it doesn't occur on the Spartan version.
*****Comfort*****
The xbox360 controllers are quite comfortable to use for a variety of different games, and can be used for hours on end. The only problem is sweaty hands tend to make it uncomfortable. If you are like me and play a lot you can always switch controllers, to renew the comfort.
*****Price*****
I purchased my controller for £29.99 from play.com a few months ago. It is now retailing at £34.99 and the stock is currently unavailable on play.com http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/4-/3475293/Official-Xbox-360-Wi reless-Controller-Halo-3-Covenant/Product.html Being a limited edition controller, it is more expensive than the standard white controllers, but this is to be expected, as with any limited edition item.
*****Additional Information*****
All wireless controllers for the xbox360 run on 2 AA batteries, inseterd into the battery pack, which in turn, slides easily down into the back of the controller. This sticks with the colour theme on this limited edition one. 2.4 GHz wireless technology with 30-foot range Built for lag-free play Integrated headset port for XBox Live play Adjustable vibration feedback for longer battery life (Taken from http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/4-/3475293/Official-Xbox-360-Wireless-Con troller-Halo-3-Covenant/Product.html)
With my controller i got a free figurine of Master Chief holding a shotgun.
I have dropped the controller a few times, and although the battery pack has come undone, there has been no damage to the controller. No physical damage on the appearance, or performance damage. It seems to be quite a strong little controller, as do all 360 controllers.
*****Opinion/Recommendation*****
I think that this is a very good looking controller, however, there is no point in buying it unless you are a hardcore Halo fan, like me. Seeing as it performs the same, and is more expensive, it is not a worthwhile purchase otherwise.
