There is a reason this cable is more expensive than other brands, and is out of stock often; it is quite simply a superior product. This official Microsoft cable won't cause loss of true colours and will produce a brilliant picture on an LCD/CRT PC monitor or an HDTV. Third Party versions of this cable are prone to interference from lights, PC's, the Xbox itself etc., colour loss and loss of quality. They are completely unshielded from these kinds of interference, and are comparable to the array of iPod docking stations with 'tinny' speakers and a poorly constructed plastic feel. Microsoft have produced a high quality product here, and this justifies the extra few pounds.
But onto the product's features. Why use a VGA cable you may ask? The VGA interface will allow you to output a high definition video signal to a TV with a VGA input, or most commonly, a PC monitor. And don't be thinking that your monitor isn't HD. Whether your monitor is CRT or LCD, as long as the resolution exceeds 720 vertical lines, it will support HD video. Most people will have a 1024x768 resolution as a bare minimum, so compatibility shouldn't be an issue. Do make sure that there exists an input on the monitor though.. older screens only have an output cable, in which case an adapter is needed (a couple of quid). After seeing the results of upgrading to HD, you will wonder why you ever even considered playing the 360 on a standard TV. On a standard definition TV, you'd think you were playing a PS2, but with HD you'll see what I mean. Microsoft kindly include a dual RCA to 3.5mm stereo adapter for attaching the audio output on the cable to your PC speakers (if they have an input, if not, you could route it through your microphone/line-in on your PC to your speakers)

Review of Microsoft Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable Game console link cable
Advantages: Clearer, Sharper graphics Disadvantages: Doesnt support 50hz games, Short audio leads
When I first got my Mircrosoft Xbox 360 I didnt have a High-Definition television so I was stuck using the standard component cable. When I finally did upgrade my television I didnt think the picture quality was as good as the hype so did some research and found that maybe VGA would be worth a crack. Upon using the VGA cable for the first time the picture seemed instantly sharper. After tweaking the resolution of both my television and the Xbox 360 ... ...purchase.
There are a few issues with the cable though. As the cable displays through 60Hz I had to revert back to the component cable for certain Original Xbox games. Also with this Official cable I found that the audio leads were too short to reach my surround sound system without strain. Apart from those problems VGA is definitely the way to go. If you dont have a High-Definition television but you do have an LCD PC Monitor then this cable is ...

Advantages: Better Clarity to visuals Disadvantages: Some old Xbox games wont run via this cable
If you are currently running your XBOX 360 through a TV using the supplied RGB Cables then you are missing out on the power of the 360.
When I first bought mine in December 2005 I was using the supplied RGB Cables , this was o.k I was happy with the result , But I wanted desperately to try the HD modes .
I had visions of spending £600+ On a New Fangled HDTV from the local Argos Until I read that Literally any old PC monitor would run the XBOX 360 ... ...my hard earned cash on a set & hooked them up to my Relisys LCD TV ( P.C Monitor & TV all in one) Using the VGA Input . I went to the settings for the 360 & changed to it to 1360 x 768 .
The Difference was unbelievable !! , trust me you WILL NOT want to plug those old RGB cables in after this . Everything is much clearer , Crisper & better defined . Project Gotham Racing looks Awesome !!
So ...
If you have ANY P.C Monitor in the home & a set of ...

Advantages: Audio Out, Resolution Sizes, Audio to 8mm Jack Disadvantages: None
I told my friends that I was interested into buying an Xbox 360. They all started laughing at me saying that my TV would just make it look like an Xbox so what was the point. Which when you think about it is true. So i decided to look into ways which i could make use of my LG L1715S monitor with my Xbox.
I came across a VGA HD cable which allowed me to link my Xbox 360 up to my monitor. The cable supports a large range of outputs up to 2560 x 1024 ... ...also has twin audio out which comes with a converter. This allows you to plug the audio into your surround sound system or into your PC input.
This cable is ideal if you don’t want to be plodding out large amounts of money on an HD LCD/plasma TV. But you still want to have the same HD gaming quality. An excellent product and well worth the money!! Highly recommended! ...
