This the wireless controller for all xbox 360 consoles regardless of whether they are the arcade console or the newest elite console. This controller will work on all the consoles. The controller itself is just as important as the console as without the console you are kind of stuck and can't do much. This controller is also wireless!
Wireless:
I remember when i had my PS2 and PS1 and had all those wires dragged across the room and getting all twisted within each other - then my mum would always complain about them being left everywhere and wire becoming a hazard. Now that is no longer a problem with the new xboxcontrollers coming completely wireless. I can
now sit where I want in my room and not have to worry about the wire getting caught or stretching across to my desk with the controller in my hand and suddenly being jerked back by those annoying wires. The wireless system involves 2.4Ghz technology (not too sure what that means but it works very well) and a 30 foot range. So you can now walk out of the room with the controller in your hand and have absolutely no problems. The fact that it is wireless does mean it requires batteries which fit onto a pack on the back - two AA batteries, but if you don't want to keep buying and changing batteries you can buy rechargeable batteries, which is what I currently own and recharge buy connecting the controller to the xbox through the USB.
Look and feel:
This controller looks quite cool and is generally white to look the same as the console itself. Of course there are several other versions of the controller including a blue and pink version as well as several different special edition versions such as the Halo Spartan version which I own and find to be awesome. The controller of course has all the normal buttons being A, B, X, Y, the two analog sticks, the d-pad and the shoulder and trigger buttons. I find this controller not only quite smart to look at but also the best controller i have ever held. It is curved in every place and fits perfectly into the hand with the trigger buttons perfectly fitted for ease of use. Some people say that it looks quite bulky but I do not find this at all and it seems great to hold, even with the battery pack on the back not causing any discomfort or problems. There is also a headset port on the button so you can plug in your headset and begin talking to your friends on xbox live.
X-box Guide button:
The guide button is that big one on the front that is a circle with an x on (ie the xbox logo). This button is the most important button on the controller. It has to be pressed in order to turn the controller on and it will light up on the specific spot to indicate which player you are (1, 2, 3 or 4) for example for player one the top left quarter will light up. You can also have up to four players playing using wireless controllers at the same time. To actually connect the controller to the xbox is simple as you press the connect button on both the controller and the xbox and the controller will flash all lights and then become connected. The button can also be used to bring up a mini dashboard menu on the screen where you can locate your personal settings as well as your gamer card, friends lists and messages, etc. The button can also be used to turn off the controller and the console. y holding the button down an option will appear on screen to either turn off the controller or the controller and console.
Other features of this controller include the ability to change the vibration in order to conserve battery life. Of course the battery life for the controller will mainly depend upon the batteries you have used - but in general the controller can last for hours on end with a good set of batteries.
Price:
The wireless controller costs £30 from play.com A wired controller costs £18, but it is certainly worth spending that bit more for so much more freedom and no wires!Summary:
