Manufacturer's product description

Dual-lens optics and with dual-platen scanning surfaces make this high-resolution scanner a production workhorse. Included with this scanner are glass-free transparency holders to ensure that only the original image is captured and not the unwelcome artifacts introduced by glass. The ArtixScan 2500 offers an impressive range of scanning possibilities for graphic artists and pre-press professionals. Achieve crisp, accurate reproductions with density detection to 3.4D and high optical resolutions. High-intensity, long-life, cold cathode lamps that emit evenly dispersed, consistent light ensuring exceptional quality scanning of exposed images.

Lexmark X2500
Review of Lexmark X2500 by  techno_man_37

Advantages: reasonable price
Disadvantages: could be faster

...Lexmark make a lot of printers and all in ones these days, this Lexmark X2500 is at the higher end of the range, however it will only cost you a great, £35 from most places. Getting an all in one works out a lot cheaper than buying things separately, also it looks a lot better than having a load of separate devices everywhere, and of course it also saves a lot of space on your desk. The best way to describe its shape is to describe it as three separate blocks glues together to give an amazing, almost sculpture like looking all in one printer. The first section at the top, is home to the scanner, the bottom is home to the paper out section and the block onto the side of the printer is home to all the buttons that are on top of the printer to make them nice and easy to get to. They isn’t a screen on this however, which I think... Read review

Microtek ScanMaker 3600
Review of Microtek ScanMaker 3600 by  sbutler1

Advantages: Affordable, solid, good quality and you can rest cups of tea on top!
Disadvantages: Sometimes slow to scan and other scanners do have better quality

...We have had out Microtek Scanmaker 3600 for well over 5 years now and it is still going strong and doing the job for our entire family. I'm not sure how much we paid for it, but it was not a lot because we just wanted a basic scanner that could scan in documents. It is very reliable, easy to use, with a suitable range of features but has the tendency to be a bit slow occasionally. 1. Looks, Design and Size The scanner is fairly good looking, quite elegant and fairly compact. It measures approximately 17" long, 10" across and 4" high so can fit into most desktop areas. It has a solid build to it and rather funky curve on the lid that gives it some added style. Furthermore, the main surface is flat and you can easily rest your cup of tea, lunch or bits of paper on top! The white colour is easy on the eye and fits in to most rooms... Read review

...The Compaq Presario 2500 laptop- the ultimate desktop replacement. You cannot find a laptop better than this one at such a low price- considering the power of such a device. If you were looking for a laptop that could take the place of a family desktop, then feast your eyes on THIS hunk of power! The Presario 2500 is an exceptionally good laptop. It has been designed for speed using the latest technology available....in 2002. There ARE much better laptops provided by Compaq, but the prices are exceedingly high. If you have an intermediate budget, and you were aiming for a laptop with a strong and fast proccessor, then the Compaq Presario 2500 is the one for you. Unless you are a 3D game developer, you will not need a better laptop. The amount of space available on the laptop is not that much, but unless you are going to store 40... Read review
