Advantages: Affordable, solid, good quality and you can rest cups of tea on top! Disadvantages: Sometimes slow to scan and other scanners do have better quality
quite well. It is very lightweight too, weighing approximately 7 pounds so is easy to lift and move around. 7/10
2. Ease of Installation and Use
Installing the scanner was very simple - a few disks, clicks and waiting for bars to fill up and all of the software were on the computer. It is simply connected to the PC via a USB cable and then you can start using it instantly. Again, using the scanner is very straightforward. The MicrotekScan wizard programme is very user friendly and straightforward and I have never had any problems getting it to do what I have wanted. 9/10
3. Speed, Colour Sensitivity and Resolution
The scanner is normally very fast, but can be exceptionally slow when trying to scan at higher qualities or when editing and changing images. Nevertheless, a few minutes patience and it is done. Unless you can't wait ...
Advantages: Durable, Programmable, Easy to Set Disadvantages: Too Slow for Offices, Quality Pictures Require Changing Settings
The Microtec ScanMaker 4850 flatbed scanner might seem obsolete due to its quality, being half of what more modern scanners can offer, and the fact it is not a part of a multi-functional copier, but you should not be assumptuous about this device.
Instead of reviewing the mechanics and energy consumption of the scanner, this summary will provide you practical information about the technology in question.
The scanner came with an USB wire and power cord, instruction manual (it was unnecessary, as all you have to do is plug it in and install the software), installation CDs (multi-lingual, one for Max, one for Windows) with plenty of software including Microtek's scanner applications and an OCR application, which is gold, as it turns your scanned material available for editing in Word.
Value for Money
I've gotten this ...
Advantages: Good value for money, increased workout choices Disadvantages: Limited target settings
After using the original Wii Fit game for about a year, I found the Wii Fit Plus to be a big improvement, and good value at only £20. It automatically transfers all your saved data from the Wii Fit so you don't have to start over.
I found the major improvement to be the facility to program a workout, rather than just being able to do individual exercises as before - it means a much better workout overall as you don't have to keep stopping and selecting exercises. You can either select a preset workout from the menu or customise your own using your favourite bits.
There are a number of new excercises present as well which I found great as I did start getting a bit bored with the limited selection on the original Wii Fit.
The calories/target section is a bit of a let down, you can set a target for calories to burn each day but these are ...

Manufacturer's product description
The lightweight ScanMaker 35t Plus is a single-pass, color slide and filmstrip scanner that offers 30-bit color scanning at an optical resolution of 1950 dpi (software enhanced up to 3900 dpi). This powerful scanner is perfect for various types of users: for magazine, newspaper, or catalog designers involved in prepress slide scanning; for photographers who want to archive their work or create digital portfolios; for multimedia developers creating presentations, interactive programs, or broadcast projects; or for anyone who wants to capture an image for Internet pages.Weighing less than five pounds, with a footprint smaller than a sheet of paper, the 35t Plus captures sharp, crisp images in over a billion colors and then optimizes that image data to a full range of color at up to 16.7 million colors or 256 shades of gray. To scan, just drop in a mounted slide and scan either in portrait or landscape mode. For filmstrip scanning, a handy filmstrip holder secures and positions images for a perfect scan every time. The 35t Plus was the winner of Imaging Magazine's 1997 Editor's Choice Award for film scanners, winning the judges' nod for best overall value and good, reliable scans.
