Use the USB base station to enable Bluetooth on your Windows 2000 or XP computer. Then download the Flicware Cordless software to provide keyboard wedge functionality and start scanning data into any Windows application in minutes.
Advantages: The cordless feature confers definite comfort : The pen-like nature allows flexibility and avoids hand strain -it's even useable on ones lap . Disadvantages: The technology failed to live up to the excellent theoretical concept - i.e. the total performance failed due to unmanageable nature of mouse's various responses.
...It is a fact that we are all used to handling pencils & pens from childhood onwards. So when I came across this 'Computermouse-pen' in an Innovations catalogue, I was compelled by this notion of improved ease of handling . This was advertised by the description of "cordless" and also by "graphics-friendly" .
So I got it. (Sensiva symbol recognition software was bundled - Sensiva is also available for free on the web - you can look it up at Ciao ).
Setup was quick - my PC environment by the way is Win.98 at 500MHz. The transmitter, which connected via a parallel port rather than a USB connection , was nonetheless unobtrusive and small .The receiving range was quite adequate - this was important in allowing me the more comfortable sitting posture that I had looked forward to and which would , I thought, allow the pen-like nature...

Advantages: Many buttons, Customisable Functionality, USB or PS2 Connection, Looks Cool Disadvantages: A little pricey at first
...I bought this mouse as an upgrade to a standard PS2 mouse. Initially a pricey upgrade but decided to take a chance on Microsoft Hardware and expected somethign decent from it. I've not been disappointed at all. Technicaly Speaking, the mouse uses an optical input which has a far greater resolution of input sensitivity than a normal roller ball does. There's a 1 - 2m cable ending with a USB connection. However, anticipating some users to have few or no free USB connections, microsoft bundled this beauty with a Green USB->PS2 connector. So this also complies to the standard of colour coding peripheral connections - so you dont have to have...

Advantages: Inexpensive Disadvantages: Cheap and plastic, needs reconnecting every time
...The Nortec 200 mouse looks quite smart and has several buttons you may find useful, but probably won't get round to using. It is on the market at anything from £5.99 to £20+. At £5.99 it is good value if you can live with the disadvantages If you believe in you 'get what you pay for' then at £20 you will be very disappointed, because you can get a very nice Logitec USBcordless laser mouse and keyboard (cordless desktop) for less £20, with none of the disadvantages. I know, I got one in the same order - the mouse is solid, smooth and works like a dream. The batteries will last for a year or two, so forget charging and 3 buttons and a scroll wheel suits me fine..
The Nortec mouse comes with a cradle which charges it's batteries from the USB source. There are dire warnings not to plug it in when the computer is running, because it may...
