The second title in the rigante series,it follows on from the book "Sword In The storm". It is preferable that you read both books to fully understand the characters but reading this one on its own will still be fully entertaining. It tells the tale of an outcast son who's anger at his father drives him on. Following him and his impact on the people around him lives. The story comes together towards the end with all the ends intertwining. The story is wonderfully composed, a complete world that echoes our own and our own history. The way it is written involves you making it one of those stay up all night to finish books. I myself couldnt put it or its predecessor down until I finished them, and have worked my way through most of Mr Gemmells other books which are all fantastic. This range is also highly refreshing, most fantasy bboks are extremely similar, some even seem to be written from the same template, so when a book like this comes along your love of reading is refreshed and increased immensely. You need to purchase this book and the others in the range, you will come back to them again and again to re-aquaint yourselves with the characters that you will grow to love and cherish.
