We bought this after reading other reviews on Ciao. We have 7 cats, 3 of which are Persian, and also 3 lovebirds who leak feathers like there's no tomorrow. We had previously exhausted 2 Dysons and an Electrolux . I wasn't too keen to go back to a 'bag' cleaner, but I have no doubts about recommending this one.
This hoover works! It deals with all manner of fluff and dirt. The provided on board tools are standard, but great for all jobs. You can use this for the car and narrow staircases with no loss of efficiency.
The Turbo head is a boon on carpets, but not so good on flat floors.
The 6 settings mean you can use it for dusting picture rails and coving, sucking fur of f your pets favourite armchair, and the curtains that lie touching it, as well as give the carpets a really good go at the same time. If anything you have to watch your setting because sometimes it is just too powerful and you can't move it against the carpet pile.
On flat floors, the main head works best. It picks up at the edges OK, but you do still need the crevice tool to do a thorough job.
I have never yet had to poke down the tube with a skewer to free some blockage - it just seems to deal with everything I throw at it.
We have a 3 storey house and it copes with stairs fine, including being dropped down them on occassions. The tube is flexible enough for it to stand on the stair below you, although it doesn't 'hug' it in the way a cylinder Dyson does. You do have to hold some of the weight yourself. That said, it is quite light and small, so it's not a major issue.
I'm not too sure about the bag full indicator - it seems to always be full even when I've just put in an empty bag, but the bag compartment is so accessible it isn't difficult to check just how full it has got.
Two minor gripes - and I mean minor-. The bags are expensive - £6.55 for 4, and not reuseable. Second -It doesn't like being pulled along, and will often steer into the nearest stationary object, in our house a wall or a cat, rather than go around the corner I want it to, or maybe that's just my driving!
For a really reliable, efficient hoover, especially with pets, I doubt if you could bet this one. If mine was stolen tomorrow, I'd replace it with an identical model without a second thought. You can't recommend something more than that.

Never mind that last comment - this was good to read although by my standards of vacuum cleaner reviews, Id have done it longer! However I have noticed that EBAY has a quantity of Miele bags which you should consider, sometimes you get more in a pack on Ebay with the P&P cost than Miele charge themselves. I find it harsh that most stockists that sell Miele products dont sell the bags too - Sebo also make a fine collection of cylinders which are excellent for animals and bags are quite long lasttng too. Maybe one day Id get a Miele but only if the bags were available everywhere.

Advantages: Unbreakable, don't worry about the dog chewing the hose or the kids jumping on it! Disadvantages: You can only buy the bags from Miele or John Lewis
