Our last Cat and Dog has lasted 7 years. It would probably have lasted much longer if it hadn't got bashed about by toddlers jumping on it! The basic vacuum is still working -- but part of the plastic lid got cracked so it won't shut properly, and couldn't be repaired.
When I went to get a new vacuum, I was overjoyed to see that they still do the Cat and Dog.
Here's why it's so good:
1. Typical German build: built for endurance and strength. 2. It has a spinning 'turbobrush' that really digs deep down into the carpet to get stuff out. 3. It deals with pet hairs. 4. It was obviously designed for tall people to use. I can use it without having to bend my back. (I am 6' 2" and have a lot of back problems.) 5. The old Cat and Dog was excellent. The new one even has some small improvements, such as an ergonomically-designed handle on the 'wand'.
There are very few products where I could truly say that there are no disadvantages. Even the price is good for what you get.

Hi Nar. Some of your questions are answered by the product information box, some by my answers to the drop-down box questions.
Re replacement parts -- the small redesigns over the last 7 years mean that you can't get the right size lid for the older version.
I've never found uprights to work with my back but I have no problem dragging this one around.

Welcome to Ciao. A good start here but generally I just dont know how you can pull a cylinder behind you if you have back problems. I prefer my Sebo upright (10 years plus) amongst a lot of models I collect. Whilst your review is good you could mention a few known facts; the Miele uses suction alone and without the pet hairs it does struggle with the 2 way floor head (as all cylinders generally do) without the additional turbo brush. What kind of power does your Miele have? Is it easy to obtain bags and fit/remove them when it needs to be emptied? Whats the filtration like? Is it noisy in use? Whats the weight of it? I recently bought my parents a Sebo k1 cylinder which they adore, its 5.5kg and it has a proper handle which Miele seem to have copied but I do know that cylinders are generally better for general dust pick up; but i am a back sufferer too! If you update your review let me know. The Miele is a good model so put in some worthwhile detail to catch future consumers - I cant believe you couldnt get a part for that bin door though..,.
