Miele S 518 Solution HEPA

I took quite some effort to research the subject before parting with my hard-earned for a vacuum cleaner, looking up product surveys, speaking to friends and family and reading Ciao opinions. Dysons were tempting, but came out very badly on reliability, looked awful, and my mum and sister-in-law have bought them and regretted it (quote: “I’d really love to drop it off a tall building”). At last - a Hoover that you almost want to get out the cupboard (Er "did I really write that?"). But it is so nearly too true. The background Ok so I can hear some of you asking yourselves - a bloke what does he know about vacuum cleaners? Well I don't put a pinny on, but I do try and do my share of domestic chores. I should maybe start by pointing out (just in case) that my subject line is entirely tongue in cheek. Of course it sucks, it's a vacuum cleaner, so it's only in a good way :-) Anyway, last November, my partner and I decided we would start looking at a new vacuum cleaner as the old one was becoming a little inefficient, and it's filtration was poor. I brought this cleaner for my mum, as a replacement for her horrible hoover from hell. So far so good, really pleased with it, and the Turbo Head is really efficent, not only does it saves time when you're cleaning, but it does such a good job of cleaning your carpets - even at half power. The Turbo head is used to clean carpets and is an immense boost when you have pets with hair/fur - it saves so much time, and with it having an Active HEPA filter it stops all the allergens escaping into the air whilst 'cleaning' any odours that may be in the dust. Having used a DC02 cylinder for many years until it finally blew up, then tried a DC04 upright, along with many other less well-known brands, the Miele beats anything I've seen before hands-down. Smart, well designed, with no less than six levels of suction available, and supplied with brushes for all sorts of surfaces, including an air-driven turbo brush which acts just as effectively as the belt-driven one on a Dyson upright (and without wearing out the carpet so quickly!) For any cleaning job requiring a vacuum, this is the only choice - and if you shop around you needn't pay any more for ... more
