Won't make me love vacuuming - apart from that it's great!

Now vacuuming is hardly one of those exciting jobs, it is pretty mundane really, but needs must and with two young children it is something I end up having to do on a daily basis. Other vacuum cleaners have proved not up to the challenge of dealing with the mess that 2 destructo-kids can cause but this vacuum is fantastic. I bought it after having been very unimpressed by a Dyson. I was looking for a cylinder vacuum cleaner and had heard that Miele were good and that they scored highly in the Which reports. I purchased mine from John Lewis where the helpful sales assistant was happy to demonstrate the vacuum in action.
The vacuum in use
The first thing that strikes you about the vacuum is that it does have quite a powerful suck, which is kind of important in a vacuum. This particular machine is actually quite quiet compared to others that I have used. There are six different settings each quieter than the last and the third setting out of six is a quieter one that still cleans well - perfect for when my youngest is napping, I can vacuum and not wake her. The other setting vary for use with rugs, upholstery and for deep clean - the lowest setting being for curtains (why?), though I have to say I haven't ever felt the need to vacuum my curtains! The settings are on a dial and are clear to understand.
The vacuum has the usual on board tools - one for upholstery, a brush for delicates and a crevice tool. These are stowed on the body of the hoover and are hidden away nicely and easily accessed. The construction of the tools is good - it is sturrdy, and the actual extending wand for the vacuum is well made and easy to use.
There are three heads to the vacuum that come with it and more can be purchased from your retailer or online. On of the heads is a turbobrush, for deep clean - my husband prefers this one on the rare occassions he feels the urge to hoover - but I find it a bit scary. For everyday use I use the head which has a brush on with retractable lint brushes - this is ideal for every surface. There is also a special parquet head which is great on my tiled and wooden floors - and quicker than brushing up dust.
On use the hoover moves around easily on swivel wheels and the 6 metre cord is long enough and retracts well. The bag is easy to change and does not require frequent changing - my one criticism would be that the "bag full" indicator is next to useless - it really doesn't tell you if the bag is full and is a bit random - I tend to just regularly check whether the bag is full. When you buy extra bags they come with a spare filter and you can also replace the hepa filter.
Overall
I find that this hoover is great at the job for which it has been designed, I am completely converted to Miele cleaners and doubt I would buy another Dyson. I actually expect this vacuum to last a long while - they have been designed to last ten years or so, and I actually think it will. I have used the vacuum a lot (well maybe not as much as I should have if you saw the state of my house!), and it is as good as new even though I have owned it over a year now. It is good to know that it is covered under a 2 year guarantee (I had a bosch once that lasted far less than that before falling apart but that is another review).
Would I recommend?
I would recommend this vacuum to anyone, it is worth paying that little bit more for as in my opinion you are buying a good quality item that will outlast less well made machines and clean well - it won't make vacuuming a pleasure exactly - but it will make it a lot easier.
Advantages: excellent suction, variable power settings, quiet, light, easy to clean Disadvantages: purchase price is steep
...fraction more and purchased a Miele S5280 for £180. The main reason I opted for the Miele over a Numatic Henry was because my parents have used Miele hoovers now for years and couldn't recommend one more highly.
Designed as more of a drag around hoover instead of the normal upright the entire unit is considerably lighter than most Dyson or Hoover products and has the ability to both adjust the suction power thus reducing the amount of noise produced ... ...in the vening and early in the morning without disturbing the entire neighbourhood. The motor produces 2200w of power which gives the S5280 a level of suction I had never felt before. As soon as it is switched on when set to full power the actual brush sticks to the carpet and in some cases actually pulls it up it is that powerful. This results in a really deep penetration of the carpet fibres and picks up absolutely everything within the carpet ...

...We decided to buy a Miele cylinder vacuum cleaner because we have two small children who crawl all over the house so a reliable and long lasting vacuum cleaner was needed. My elder son is afraid of the vacuum cleaner's noise but not of this one's noise. It is quiet but sucks everything very well. We replaced a Samsung vacuum cleaner which worked nicely but was too noisy for the kids. There are a lot of good vacuum cleaners on the market, I am sure, ... ...disappointed. There are days when I have to hoover the whole house 2-3 times. Price It was about 200 pounds which is quite a lot, but it was worth every penny. It is easy to handle and sucks well. It has very useful features. Features It has Allergotec floorhead. There is a sensor on the floorhead which shows whether your carpet is clean already or not. It is red when there are larger dust pieces on the floor, orange when there are less and smaller ...

...flatter to deceive.
This Miele is versatile, quiet and has easy maneuverability around the home. The drawback is dust bags but they last a long time and work well; being easy to change and dispose of.
It has settings from curtains to heavy soiled carpets and a choice of filters. Tools are well designed and the smaller ones actually are in a neat compartment in the cleaner.
We bought it specifically for our oak wooden floors and the special parquet ...
